ok....stupid "top down" question.

much-better half's jeep is a hardtop. anyone here bought the factory soft top assembly after the fact? how wretched is the conversion? (she had to pick one with out the dual top group.)
I got the dual top, but I don’t think it made any difference. You still have to put all the brackets on after you pull the hard top.

It’s not hard to put together. Just make sure you leave the straps on until you get the soft top on the brackets.

It's been an absolutely beautiful 3-4 weeks straight here in NH. Even the cold nights don't make me get the top up

Been riding like this all week. Back doors stay on due to my 3 & 4 year olds sitting in the outboard seats .

What I learned in switching back to the hard top from soft top (to meet Uhaul requirements for towing) was to watch out for the spring action lock/unlock mechanism. I got my thumb caught when it snapped further closed after removing the screws from the rear attachment point on the drivers side. Won't lose my thumbnail, but I don't recommend the experience. As with anything, once you install the composite brackets needed for the soft top and then remove them it gets easier. I bet I can reinstall the soft top in about 15 minutes. I have been impressed by the ease of installation or removal that the Jeep engineers addressed for the doors, hard top/soft top, the freedom panels (way faster than the JK) and most impressively the front windshield (4 screws versus 12).

Do you carry the windows with you in event of rain? I will be carrying mine in the soft top bag as the summer monsoon season is almost upon us in Southern Arizona and if you get caught your Jeep becomes a bucket of sorts.

Nothing beats a top-down, backroads kind of day in East Tennessee! Who else is topless....post your pics.
I do on my Fiat 124 Spider. Does that count?

Just put the doors and top on for a trip this weekend after having them off for just over two weeks.

Feels... weird.

I've had my top down so long spiders have webs in the back seat. Funny thing, I'm fine with it. Must be a jeep thing... Tom
