I believe "within spec" as per Stellantis is a quart per 1000 miles. So in terms of dealer help I don't think you'll get much. A quart per 3000 miles isn't necessarily an issue I would say.

EDIT: This "within spec" is true for both 3.6 and 2.0.
EDIT 2: As an anecdotal example, BMW says a quart per 1000 miles is normal on their inline-6's and 4.4L V8s as well

Thank your low tension piston rings used to lower friction (and increase blow by) to achieve CAFE standards. Anything less than a perfect seal and oil gets in the cylinders.

When I was using 0w20 oil, my engine would need a quart or more between oil changes. Since going 5w30, it hasn't used any.

So...does anyone on the forum have an opinion on the best oil to use? (Sorry OP)

My 18 jku went through 1.5-2qts between changes. That was usually when i was climbing hills with a small trailer for summer camping trips. I was told it was "normal". I ended up getting a 2019 jlru also wth the 3.6. I still see some consumption during summer months making trips up to the mountains, but not like i had in the jk. My jl may use a quart in the more extreme duty use intervals. That was using 0w20. This summer i switched to 5w30 so we will see if there is a difference.

The consumption for oil change intervals even with the jk wasnt nearly as bad during months where we didn't make trips up the mountains or where there weren't many times of high rpms and high temps.

I will add this, at the risk of opening the flood gates fir another "best oil to use" thread... the 5w30 does make it much quieter on startups as many have stated.

2020 4 DR Rubicon 3.6 auto with 31,000 miles,, after 3000 miles since last oil change no oil consumption. I really want to switch to 5-30 synthetic oil at the next oil change. Just cannot think 0-20 oil helps the top end, pretty sure it's about fuel consumption.....

Since I am not a chemical engineer, I am not qualified to say, which is the best engine oil. But what our Family uses, I feel is of quality. We have nine vehicles in our Family. Four of them have the 3.6 engines. We run Penzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 in eight of them. The ninth of is a 2025 Jeep Gladiator Mojave. My Son-in-law wants to run 0w30 in it. PUP, doesn't offer a 0w30 weight engine oil. So, he went with Amsoil Signature Series 0w30 in his. But that oil is way too pricey for me. But he does buy it wholesale from a Friend that is a Distributer for it.
