Hi All,

First time poster, long time stalker.

So I changed my oil and the fluid in the front and rear differentials yesterday (did the rear a while back at 7K miles (LSD rear), it problems there).

When I did the front, I was only able to get about 1 quart in before it started coming out the fill hole (I let it drain for a while while I was refilling the rear and re-taping the plugs for the front, so everything should have been out). I thought it was supposed to be about 1.3 qts for the front

I closed it up and did a few figure 8’s and tight turns in both directions in the parking lot to see if everything just needed to settle. The rear took a few more squeezes of juice, but front was still full.

Unfortunately, I had already combined all the old oil together by the time I went to refill the front, so couldn’t double check to see how much came out.

Did I miss something? Was I supposed to shift into 4x or neutral to unlock something to release the rest of the oil?

Either way, the front oil looked almost brand new, and as long as it’s full I should be fine right?

2021 Unlimited Willys- 21K miles

Thanks

It should have been about 1.3QTs (for a D44); is yours a D30 or D35? There is nothing inside that would prevent the oil from draining out. I would run it for a bit and check it again.

All the more reason to change it often and early...

It’s a D30.

Thanks for the chart. Looks like the D30 is just shy of a full quart, so I think we’re good

My bad, should have triple checked before posting.

Thanks
