@Zeus That is the setup I'm working toward. Do you get out often?

How easy is it to use for hauling if not camping?
Did the first year... couple surgeries the past year had have not had it out to my dismay. Hope to remedy that. I think it would be a major pain to remove the RTT rack and tent to use it to haul anything.

It stays loaded up for trips (gear wise). When we come home from a trip, back it in the garage, pull the cooler off the rack, take it inside and done. Laundry/dry foods are put in the tow vehicle only for the trip home so we can park it and forget it til next time. That is a beautiful thing.

No worries...

YaThatAintRight What some of the guys with these trailers do is Mom and Dad stay in the RTT, and they pack a couple pop up tents for the kids that don't want to stay in the annex... or in your case don't have room. The kids like it because they get their "own" tent.

I picked up my Smittybilt Scout trailer last night and am mounting a Tepui Autana XL RTT this morning. Build quality of the trailer seems fine for the price, and despite some SB naysayers online, reviews of this trailer were positive.

Autana XL is size of king size mattress inside. 2 adults and 1-2 kid will be comfortable for a long trip. Annex adds a whole other room for another couple. The trailer rack is ~6' high so bottom of annex might bunch a bit.

We really liked both turtleback and cricket trailers, but decided to start inexpensive and upgrade in future if need be.

The Scout comes with beefy wheels, tires, suspension, electronic brakes, pull out slides and stabilizers for reasonable price.

Moby1 XTR fits the bill. It's pretty much a turn key package, just not inexpensive. Expect to pay $40K minimum unless you just want to buy a shell trailer and build the rest of it yourself. But loaded with all the goodies in this video they are at least $45-50K and require a 50% deposit up front with at least a 9 month lead time. Also pricing just went up for the first time so it could be even more but I have not requested a new pricelist.

For those prices i'd just buy a second Rubicon and let the kids sleep in that...........

somehow I stumbled across these guys, which I've seen good reviews from the couple videos on youtube, and are priced from $13k-$20k depending on the version you want
https://bearteardrops.com/trailers/the-apache-trailer/

for trailers though, you can either go with a teardrop-type (which are expensive) and put a RTT on top of that, or a "expedition" style trailer (little less expensive) and put an RTT on that; difference being with a teardrop-type you at least get sleeping quarters for the adults and can put the kids in the tent (or vise-versa). you could hang an awning-room off the expedition-style to hit your req-number.

or put a second RTT on top of the Jeep. that would actually be sort of neat - two RTT's, you could connect them with a rope bridge or something...

$40K? I could buy a MB Sprinter or Ford Transit for that price.

Personally I think trailers are a PIA. I would much rather grab a rack from BajaRacks or Gobi and then add the pop up tent on the roof. That could sleep (4) and then if the extra kids didn't want to sleep in a ground tent depending on how you have your interior set up they could sleep inside the JL.

Also the Ursa Minor top are awesome as well., like @Billy pointed out.

My Boreas XT. Cabin sleeps two, queen bed. Roof top tent sleeps, 2 queen size. Tent annex could sleep 1 on a cot. Awning annex could do 4 on cots, 2500 annex and room might do 5.

2200 lbs My JK towed it fine and my new JL towers it easy.

Stephen, did you add any options besides the tents? Can I ask how much $$? Also is it 5x9? 5x10? Just the maxx fan or did you add Air Conditioning? Thank you-and what a very nice set up.

I got pretty much everything they offer and upgraded to 33” tires and 20lb propane tank. Shower, solar, awning, roof rack, fridge, sink and stove I think are pretty standard. They’re almost $25k fully loaded. I added the tent later. The furnace works great, as does the fan, but AC wasn’t an option; which I’m ok with. Off road it does increadably well. I looked for a long time and this was the best setup in my opinion. I like Mobys offerings as well, but not the price point or storage.

Used to have a ruger trailer and it was very nice, but I really wanted to warm now.

Oh and the box is 5x9.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at hiker trailers and the bearteardrops that Risingeagle mentioned.
