I came pretty close to pulling the trigger on a forest river no boundaries 10.6
Then I found the InTech explore which ticked all my boxes
With double slide outs
Now I’m alitrle obsessed with the Tata mantis
It might be alittle much for the Jeep but I have 3 kids and it looks pretty awesome
Mixed reports of 2200-2800 dry

I picked up a used Coleman pop-up with off-road suspension. Dying to try it with the Jeep...finally just finished adding a towing hitch and wiring. Also had to redo bearings, brakes and tires on trailer. Finally got that all done so hopefully get the rig on a trail here in CO soon.

I just placed my order for a 2018 JLU Rubicon fully loaded in Sting Gray and couldn't be more excited! I am really looking forward to doing some camping in remote areas and am looking for a trailer that will sleep at least 6 people and is off-road capable and within the towing capacity of the JL. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with trailers like this that could share some advice?
Will not sleep 6; but I like it. Just had my brother pick this up for me. I will have to wait several months before I can try it out.

I bought an IntechRV Pursue the end of April, great trailer for a base camp. All aluminum and pretty lightweight. The Jeep pulls it great, went to Acadia National Park the first week of June.

I did look at those and several other for Overland stuff. I also looked at the price. I was determined to build my own. I was on the TJ forum reading about Mods for my TJ. Someone put it up under the finds section. He said the camper has been listed for months. I happened to look in. I sent an email on the off chance they still had the trailer. He did. He originally listed the price $6k, after a couple months, lowered to $5k. I talked him down too $4250. When I get back from deployment, do a fresh tune up on the TJ, the weather should have a nip in the air at night good for a weekend adventure. I still haven’t done one single mod on the Sahara. Both the ā€˜98 TJ Sport and the ā€˜18 JLU Sahara are bone stock. First Mods for both are LED’s all around. Then the trailer hitch for the JLU. So I can test the stock performance.

Super nice rig and pull behind. I like the blue and the black top combo. Let me know if you decide to part with any Rubicon parts. I will let you know when I hit some trails in your neck of the woods.

This is my camping setup. It was filmed prior to my JK blowing up. Plan to pull with my JL. It was built by a guy in Wichita Kansas, he has a how to video. Weight is under 2k. Works well.

I’ve talked to the Conqueror folks, as I’m currently trying to decide on a 440 or 490... but they have a LOT of customers that pull with Wranglers with no issues.

The trailer brake controller thread has some good info for integration.
Notice how they did not show them pulling it up hills?

I have been looking for a while but no one builds what I need in a light weight package so I'm building my own. It has the added benefit of not spending a bunch of money on something that may not work for me or possibly not use as much as I thought.

I need to take a dirt bike with me so that means at minimum it has to be 5 feet high IF it goes inside. If it goes on the outside it has to be on a tire carrier of sorts strong enough to sway out. I'd rather not do that for a few reasons but it has a few advantages too.

Heading to alaska and need VERY easy setup. Having a dirt bike inside complicates this a bit but I will find out with my half arsed trailer build. Its an old 4x8 utility trailer. It really is small but the tire width matches the jeep real close, usually not that important but can be on the trail. Well see.

I hope the half arse trailer works and dont need anything else. I'd much rather use my coin on cool things for the jeep like a v8 or whatever rather then a mega dollar trailer. They are nice though, no doubt about it.

Yeah, besides the towing capability of the jeep it just isnt that fun towing period. A heavy trailer just makes it less fun getting there on the road. I think anything much more then 2200 lbs takes away from the adventure. That's me though.

If I end up towing a lot I'd gear it lower, maybe a better hitch and put on better brakes. My understanding is the gladiator has stronger brakes and would likely bolt on.

Trailers make a great base camp and would work well for what many of us want to do.

I asked the question in the forum and no one has answered it. The question is, will the Gladiator (an actual tow hitch) hitch mount on a JL/U. Specially the Sahara. If it does, I would feel more confident. Granted my camper is 1100 lbs. with gear, I will be fine. Just prefer the JT set up as opposed to the JL option. I have already considering the big brake option, and will do it later than sooner. Also considering the Rubicon axel swap. I could not convince the wife to letme get the Rubicon with everything. Compromised on the Sahara.

Please keep us posted on your trailer build. I’m thinking of something similar, although I think I’ll build the camper as a slide-in, so I can still use the trailer for hauling stuff.

I’m also thinking I’ll replace the 12ā€ wheels with 15ā€s.

Maybe I’ll start a thread on it. We could probably help each other avoid mistakes and give each other ideas.
