Jeep licenses its logo and paint colors to Livin’ Lite to manufacture a jeep-matching pop up off road camping trailer:
$11K, right?

Little Guy 5 wide. I've had it for 6 years and love it. Just got the roof rack cross bars and two Yakima Slim Shady's for it so I can quit lugging around that 10x10 awning that is a PITA to put up.

Awesome. What do you do for anti-theft when you leave it alone? Locking wheel chocks?

I used to have a locking wheel chock but it got rusted out. Now I just pull the pintle hitch from the receiver once I get it set up and lock it on.

Cool. Do you have updated pictures with the Yakima Slim Shadys? I am thinking about buying one for the JL Removal Roof Rack, if it will mount on it.

They just showed up today. I'll post one up when I put them on. I can throw one on the Jeep too just for fun. I have a ride tomorrow so probably Monday or Tuesday.

Well My#8andlast, I don't think it matters--it gives us a chance to display different types of off-road trailers !

Whatever

this is an awesome thread -right up some things I was considering

Another option to consider for sleeping 6 (2 adults + 4kids) is using a 6ft or 8ft ARB awning, and then having the attached-room. I've looked at that config and it appears relatively resilient. It's basically a zip-on addition to the 8x8 (or 6x6) awning that can attach to the gobi rack etc.

so - you could do a RTT, + the awning / room. You could mount both either on a trailer, or on the jeep itself. Me - I think I would prefer a trailer because that way you could unhook it, and still use the jeep.

an inexpensive (relatively) option is http://www.morrismule.com/index.html. They seem to be pretty decent trailers that are put together, and there's at least one rig I've seen on YouTube that runs a RTT on top of it; it would easily also accommodate an awning as well. Tow weight was well within the limits of a 4-door.

if you wanted to spend a bit more money, I would think an offroad-teardrop would work better(many listed in this thread) but as others have pointed out - they get pricey quick. Moby-1, etc - lot of them seem really solid, and more than capable of having a RTT and awning attached. you could do a 3-4man RTT (keeping the kids up top) and adults sleep in the teardrop

really will come down to how much money you're willing to give up for it - if you're trying to do it very cheap, an RTT and awning-room is about as inexpensive as it's going to get; where you mount them may further limit what you might want to do
