Maybe I'm being stupid, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out why I can't get the wiring hooked up to the point that everything fits together: I'll start out with some pictures,

again, maybe I"m mistaken about what goes where, so I'll just TRY to explain the problem I"m having:

under the dash, A and B were connected
C and D are the ends of the extension that I ordered from Z Automotive
E and F are the ends of the Adapter
G is the OBD scanner/reader

I know that F and G end up together when making changes...

if extension end C mounts into plug A under dash, then D will not connect with E as they are basically the same plug

the only thing I can possible think of is that the wires, B, are what's connected to E

make sense?

was my mistake thinking that the extension is what's plugged into the adapter, when it's actually the wires, B ?

in other words
1) connect C to A then leave it TF alone until time to re-attach B, then attach B to D
2) Connect B to E
3) F to G
4) do whatever I need to do with the Jscan
5) remove E, F & G
6) Plug B into D & tuck up under dash

again, don't feel bad about pointing out my stupidity, I"ve got thick skin

What extension are you referring to with C & D? You shouldn't need that at all.

Disconnect B from A.

Connect B to E.

Connect G to F.

Look at the pictures here: http://jscan.net/jl-jt-security-bypass/

having somewhat large hands, I bought the extension cable from z automotive so that I could simply leave it plugged into the SGW. if I needed to unplug the cables, I could do so at B/D so that I don't have to thrash my hands up on all the sharp metal whenever I choose to make a change

There are lots that struggle with those connectors, this item does drive the cost up in running JSCAN but you can leave it plugged in all the time and then just plug in you OBDII BT module and connect to JSCAN
