I hired a company that builds steel buildings to slap one up for me a few years back. It is 24’ x 22’, over built, and I absolutely love it. It serves as a great work place with shade and ventilation as well as protection from hail, but it is also strong enough that I’ve mounted an electric hoist to it and use it to lift my hard top, RTT, and lift heavy items from the bed of my pickup truck. It required no labor from me other than writing a check for ~$3k.Normally I would, however, I am just back to being able to walk and drive after a pretty serious injury to both my legs several years ago. The VA was a little slow on scheduling the surgery so that has complicated things. So sadly my ability to carry, climb, maneuver ect is almost nil still. So the cargo container drop and use idea seemed possible to me.
Wow that is a pretty good deal, I was thinking they would be far more expensive.I hired a company that builds steel buildings to slap one up for me a few years back. I would think a shipping container would be a pain in the ass to get in and out of. You have no room to open the door to get out, and it would heat up in the sun as it is enclosed. As well as costing the same or more.
Thank you. I had a 88 YJ that I had to sell and I really missed it. I am super excited about having a Jeep again :DExcuse some Jeepers.
Vented Container would suit your needs until later on when you are better you can maybe get car port installed.
Congrats on your Jeep.![]()
Lots of info on forum you can get.
I don't see your current Arnold SwartzaWrangler fitting.I'll try to remember to pull my Jeep into one of my shipping containers at work, to see how much room is left for opening doors and walking around it.
Taken right before swapping out the 3.5" Metalcloak springs for a set of their new 4.5's. Note the coincidental name on the container...

Man that is good. I live in tiny town Kansas a bit away from anything bigger than 4 stop lights. I need to see if I can find something like this. Any advice on what kind of company to Google?I hired a company that builds steel buildings to slap one up for me a few years back. It is 24’ x 22’, over built, and I absolutely love it. We have the Amish out on the East Coast. They are in Utah too. There's got to be something by you. When I looked last year, there were also hanger type metal enclosures available too. They are meant for a DIY, but they will have people on file that will build it for you at cost.Man that is good. I live in tiny town Kansas a bit away from anything bigger than 4 stop lights. I just went to a company that welds up metal buildings. They were local to me in my tiny one stop light town here in north texas. Just google metal building erector or shop builders in your area, they should be able to make it happen.Man that is good. Old pic with the Jeep for scale. The hard top hangs there just fine when we’ve got it off too.

Yep, that is great advice. Even though I live in a 900 person town, my plan was to hit city hall tomorrow and check on this.I don't really have anything to add to the options available to you, but just something to consider when you're looking into it all:
Make sure your city or township or w/e won't fine you for putting something up. I looked into a garage when I bought my current home and they are kind of against it. I plan on figuring it out long term to get something built, (and short term I don't really care until I do have time to fight for it), but in the meantime I doubt they'd like if I dropped a shipping container in place of a garage.
Was sidetracked earlier. Thank you for your service!!!Thank you. I had a 88 YJ that I had to sell and I really missed it. I am super excited about having a Jeep again :D
