So I bought and installed an Eibach 2" suspension lift that barely lifted the thing from stock; had just purchased the JLURD and didn't take the time to do the research to land on a diesel-specific kit. Added a 3/4" spacer f&r after I did steel bumpers/winch.

It MIGHT be lifted 1" higher than a stock JLURD in current configuration. Do get some light rubbing from the rear, nothing from the front. It's currently at the shop getting a 2.5" Readylift SST kit on; removing the 3/4" spacers and adding shock extensions for the Eibach shocks.

If I were to go back and do it all over again, and prepared for 38s instead of 37s, I would recommend a minimum of 2.5" suspension lift to be able to wheel this tire. I can DD it like this without any issues, but haven't had the nerve to take it offroad until this added lift is done today. I am pretty sure I'd wreck the front fenders.

On the contrary, it went to Moab on the Hankook 37s without a single issue in the world, so if you're content on those, it might be worth avoiding the headache I gave myself jumping up an inch.
I know this is old, but did you manage to fit the 38 RGs on the mopar tailgate carrier that came with the XR?

No - The 38 RG's will not fit on the XR mopar tailgate carrier. A 37" KO2 or KM3 on factory XR Wheels will fit but the 38 on factory XR wheels will not.

I simply used the Teraflex Alpha HD Adjustable mounting kit on the highest setting and it provided plenty of room for the RG's. Could possibly go up to a 40. So far, no tailgate issues, but I will tell you the weight jump up from the 37 KM3's to the 38s Ridge Grapplers on the factory tailgate is.... noticeable when you open and close.

Link to the Alpha HD is below.

I saw that you had fitment issues, I was hoping the other guy would answer so I would know if I could lie to myself and it was a coin flip

what part exactly does not fit? Is it just the brake light?

also, the funny part is - that because the 38 RGs are a different load rating apparently they are a little lighter than the 37s, so that weight will be felt either way

I was running a spare delete so mine was sitting inside the jeep with the back seats down

Haha but a coin flip is easier to sell to the wife! Thanks for the input guys. Still curious as to why it didn’t fit, interested to hear his response.

I have them on my diesel on a 2.5” AEV lift with JK spec AEV Borah beadlocks, stock flares. No issues wheeling except the rear plastic liner touches under full stuff. Also using the Teraflex tire carrier and Rugged Ridge hinges.

Looking at the 3rd picture, no winch but what’s that bumper/fairlead opening? I don’t have the need for a winch, been thinking what to do with the plastic cover.

Not sure if I'm actually supposed to answer anymore. :)

Significant interference with the factory rear bumper, it's not even close. Top brake light sits a bit low but wasn't a big deal. You'd most likely want to fabricate something to raise up a bit to make it more visible which would be relatively easy to accomplish.

This is my son's 2022 392 XR.... it has 37x12.5 KM3's on factory XR's. It is incredibly tight but clears by just a very small bit (maybe a 1/4 inch-ish).

Here is my 2023 XR with the Terraflex carrier and 38x12.5's

Plenty of room. I will most likely move away from the RG's at some point on the red one and go to the 39x13.5 BFG KM3's or KO2's (KO3's if they come out with that size in next gen) - guessing the 38 RG's are roughly about the same actual diameter as the 39 BFG's.

Hope that's helpful....

Thank you so much for all of the info and pictures! Im stoked now because I actually scored a super low profile rear bumper now so this should be a non issue. I figured I’d have to fabricate something simple for the 3rd brake light. Well this is great news, another reason I’ll be pulling the trigger on 38s shortly!

Updates… my 38s fit the stock carrier and my bumper. However, I feel like the tire is not secure. I believe it is thudding on harsh bumps. I removed the spacer behind the mopar carrier and it snugs up against the bump stops better, and it helped, but I’m still feeling harsh thuds on harsh bumps.

Is the teraflex on the mopar hinge a more secure connection?

The mopar reinforcement will help keep the tailgate from twisting, but will not strengthen the hinges themselves.

If you're pulling everything off anyways, I would look at the Cavfab tire carrier, or the full Teraflex kit with the hinge replacement. Teralfex claims to support up to a 39" tire mounted this way.

I have the Teraflex kit (only running 35's) and personally love it, but it can be a pain to get the tailgate lined back up perfectly. It's super beefy.
