Well, they added a spark plug check to the PDIs and there's the bulletin about them. The one we had came in with a dead miss on cylinder 3. Pulled the plug and the diode was smashed in enough to give zero gap. Luckily the plug didn't break or it would've required an engine replacement per the bulletin.

I'll laugh my ass off if they had the pre and main chamber plugs backward from the get-go and all the engines out there are backwards.
How would this happen? The plugs use different size sockets. Aren’t the plugs installed by robotics on the assembly lines?

They were in the right spots, but it's possible the right spots are actually backwards on the engineering side.

Think about how that one nasa rover crashed because one of the suppliers used imperial units instead of metric. That kind of mistake.

It's probably some other issue but it'd be super funny if this was the problem

People can’t even change their oil correctly or on time for that matter and they want people to worry about changing double the spark plugs lmao

Agreed, that could be a career move for someone.
Or possibly, sabotage by the 007 of the Bronco underground😳

Probably those software engineers. I mean software changes are the solution to everything, so that must be the cause too.

You know. It wouldn’t fuckin surprise me if they were like “yeah so change intervals are 30k miles for the small plugs and 60 for the big plugs”. It would be the most stellantis move ever and I wouldn’t even bat an eye at the retardation

I do like how many people are freaking out over this yet having 2 plugs a cylinder isnt a new thing. Sure its not common but its not like there isnt a history of it.

That'd really throw "a wrench" in it, since, of course, they're the same size!

Not new tech but also completely unneeded in something like this lol

The regular engineers apparently couldn't figure out how to fix their terrible clutch (couldn't figure out how to add a steering stabilizer) so they had to have the software engineers do it, and we've all seen how that panned out.

At least they seem to have stopped exploding.

But they require a different size socket. How is an assembly line robot going to get that wrong?

The robot has to find that spark plug socket in the bottom of the tool bag first.

What's the octane specification for the new GMET4 Evo? Just wondering if the engine's functioning, to include the risk of plug damage as first mentioned on p. 9 of the thread, can be cross walked to the grade of fuel being used.

We can utterly trash these engines by putting the spark plug in the wrong place (see previously posted dire warnings about making sure it's correct), but potentially also by simply using insufficient octane?
