Computer engineer checking in: That's nothing to be afraid of.

The big problem is poor quality wire harnessing, questionable harness routing, bad/cheap connectors, bad/cheap components, and sometimes questionable component design that leads to shorting out lines that shouldn't be shorted out.

Also all of those things are likely contracted out to at least a dozen different companies.

You can build something like that without it being a problem.
Gonna piggy back on you for a sec. So I found a body connector in the rear passenger wheel well. Of all places to put one of those, not like water or rocks or anything will ever touch that connector.

Anyone ever have one of those fail?

Is it not connected to anything? The euro spec jeeps use auto leveling headlights, which require a suspension height sensor to determine how to aim the headlights. AFAIK those would usually be mounted in the rear wheel wells.

I do agree having connectors in wet areas should be avoided at all costs.

Wish I could read the electrical diagram better so I can see how many items that can be removed.
Bingo!
But I bet a lot of them are wired together in a system and a pain to remove.
I would to remove a lot of the safety sensors (not the air bag lol).

Just double checked, looks like it’s connected to stuff of sorts.
