You would hope.
I lost hope. I have too much past experience dealing with inexperienced technicians. This is why I feel that this is an oversight on the engineers shoulders. They should have created one plug as an M12 thread, and the other as M14 or other such dis-similarity.

I can just see the new guy cranking away on the plug. Man, this is tight!

Our lab uses mostly 1/4-20 hardware and after a few "experiences" I hid all the 1/4-28 bolts in a locked drawer.

First law of engineering: If you make it idiot proof someone will make a bigger idiot.

Sure, but not "serious engine damage" as discussed in the video / on that page, right? Assuming, of course, it didn't require replacing the head.

Benny @AllMoparParts.com, do you have part numbers / details on these spark plugs?
Just part numbers at this time

Main Chamber - 68540598AB
Pre Chamber - 68506398AA

Please let me know if you have any other questions at this time.

Thank you,
- Benny

Can we get the thread pitch and diameter? This apparently is a worrisome issue for some of us.
Thanks

2026 Willys 2.0T 2DR Hard Top in Mojito built for me!
I kinda liked that antique engine sounding characteristic in mine. Not broken so I didn’t care what others thought.
Yeah, in my mind, a Jeep is supposed to sound like a tractor since the old Willys were farm vehicles. I was a bit worried when I first got it, but now that I'm no longer ignorant I like it. :like:

(And the Italian part of me is perversely happy that my engine is an Alfa Romeo.)

I've looked, but can't find those specific specs. Benny said he could only get part numbers for now.

If we assume that the camera distance is nearly identical for the two spark plugs then, according to ChatGPT (when told to use that assumption):
The threads look identical in both pitch and diameter, suggesting they are likely the same.
No, that doesn't prove that they're identical in those regards, but all evidence up to this point (especially due the explicit dire warnings from Stellantis) indicates they are.

The difference here is that you are talking to a parts counter guy, and asking him to look up parts. In a lot of dealerships it doesn't happen that way anymore for their in house repairs. The tech orders the parts, and the parts people that work behind the counter get a request ticket. That ticket might not even say what vehicle it's for, just a work order number or similar. They use the info to pull the parts and put them in the bin. Tech pulls parts from the bin.

The expectation is that the tech is the one working on the equipment, so they should know what they are doing better than some parts guy.

As a Parts Director with 20+ years in the business, I can tell you this isn’t how it works at the dealership level.

Maybe a very small store can get away with that, but in any real operation, parts isn’t just “pulling.” Techs send up P&A requests like “front cover reseal,” and it’s on us to build that job correctly. Every gasket, seal, bolt, and one-time-use component. And if it’s warranty vs. CP, that changes everything. Miss one required part on a warranty claim and now you’ve got compliance issues or a chargeback.

On top of that, we’re supporting IRFs and retail customers who often don’t even know what they’re asking for. Deciphering what part they need.... the first time is a skill... and let me tell you... we talk to some real winners.

Now, are there bad parts guys out there? Absolutely! I talk to them every day. But let’s not pretend that issue is unique to parts. I’ve got techs who still don’t know bank 1 from bank 2, and half this new generation couldn't diagnose an issue without a computer to tell them what/where/why.

Truth is, it takes a solid 3–5 years before a parts person is actually good at the job. The good ones aren’t “parts pullers” they’re a critical piece of keeping the entire operation moving and profitable. So if you find a parts person that is good be nice to them, they will make your life easier.
