According to the Jeep build website, if it has automatic transmission, a Rubicon X comes with 35 inch tires. It doesn't say anything about manual transmissions. It's probably safe to assume a manual transmission Rubicon X comes with 33 in tires.

However if that's not true, can someone explain to me what the extra $10,000 is for?
Yea the 2 door is the red headed stepchild that sometimes gets a smile from their parents but usually is pretty ignored.

A few months ago my wife was wanting to buy a 2-door X off the lot. I started looking at the build sheet details and realized it had 33s and 4.10 gears.

Drive it for a while before handing over $12k for changes that you may or may not want / need.

It'll definitely do fire trails without issue. Note that it will never ride on the street like a Cadillac. If they're selling you that line then you should seriously consider finding another shop.

If you're needing it to ride like a Cadillac then you might want to cancel your order.
Especially if they are going to do the work that they are recommending...

Maybe the 35s with the automatic transmission is for 2024 models only?

If that's true then what exactly is the point of spending $10,000 more for a Rubicon X over a Rubicon?

No, the 2 door is NOT equipped with 35” tires and when I ordered it about 19 days ago, the extreme package was not offered as well.

Based on what you said, looks like you purchasing the wrong vehicle.

If you want luxury and fire trails, get yourself a 4Runner. The engine will last longer, and you'll have actual creature comforts, along with the much softer ride.

Also, you do realize that a two-door Rubicon X with an automatic transmission comes with 35 inch tires from the factory, right?
I’ve lived the 4 Runner dream, it’s a boat on tires. Plus I did not mean to indicate I want luxury. I was told that if I have the suspicion changed and add 35’s, it would drive like a Cadillac. For clarification, I am more focused on the look rather than ability. Unless I make a wrong turn, I will not intentionally crawl over boulders. The 2 door X does not come with 35’s. The 4 door does, but not the 2 door.

I just ordered a 2 door Rubicon X, my first Jeep. I live in Boise Idaho and went to a local (Bucks) 4x4 shop that specializes in Wranglers. They advised me to switch to 35” tires and change the suspension, amongst other things. Bucks told me it could ride on the street like a Cadillac. I’m old and spent much of my time in the Middle East, so I like comforts. I’m not going to rock crawl, but I intend to hit fire trails. I plan to remove the rear seat for my two Malinois. I took delivery of the attached today, nets will not work for Malinois. To the question, basically I want it to look cool, drive well and be dog friendly. Bucks told me it will take about $12k and I’m good with it, but I don’t want to take it in the shorts as well. Can the Wrangler ride like a Tahoe? Will 35’s make it more prone to roll? What are some specific upgrades I can have installed to achieve my goal. I don’t know how to turn a wrench, so please be kind! Many thanks!

Hello,

We just got a Rubicon X. It comes with 35 inch tires and a lift from the factory.

You already saved the 12,000 and have not even taken delivery!

Great move !

If you look at the site as you’ve listed it, it also says the Trailer two hitch and aux switches are still standard equipment 🤣 but if you don’t put that $95 ADH option on there they aren’t showing up with your Jeep. If you look at the price sheets it shows on the JLU the Xtreme 35 Tire package is included when either the 2.0L w/ auto or 3.6L w/ auto is select (e.g. 4 door with auto transmission). On the 2 door build sheet it does not list the Xtreme 35 tire package as N/C with either option. And when trying to order one they can’t select that option on the 2 door code; other than when they briefly added the option for the 2.0L auto back around January; but that only lasted a few weeks. When I ordered my JLURX 35s were not available to order with the 2 door again and I ordered mid March.

EDIT: and to answer the “what is the $10K for”… the color matched hard top, fender flares, leather seats, uconnect5 with nav, premium speakers, standard and advanced safety groups, and the technology group.

it’s essentially all of the options that were previously optionable on the Rubicon; a.k.a. a “loaded” rubicon. But with the ‘24 they did the Rubicon X and remove the color matched hard top from the standard Rubicon, etc to put the more desired options from the Rubicon into a “bundle” to increase the other options that weren’t as often selected on the Rubicon.

i always recommend new Jeep folks rent and live with one the way they’ll actually drive it before plunking down $$ to buy a Jeep. Wranglers ride rough, two doors even more so. They are loudmouth noisy and pretty darn crude compared to basically anything else built in the last 25 or 30 years. Folks love em or hate em but there’s not much middle ground. If you’re a Jeep person their flaws get overlooked because of their off road prowess. Folks after the ”image” often find the life style looks better than it lives. Good luck in your quest.

Hey I'll say this much, there's a army guy I used to follow Instagram who had a Wrangler. It's a good vehicle for service men and women.
Really hits home!

I believe he had to sell it when he transferred to Hawaii because the import taxes and requirements were retarded!

I am aware it will ride rougher than a normal vehicle. I just sold an X5M that rides super rough. Actually I sold a 2019 Raptor yesterday and a 2024 Polaris XP 1000 Northstar today. I am down to two vehicles, 2021 Raptor and 2023 Lariat, both ride exceedingly well. My plan, I know if it’s going as planned, it’s an ambush,…is to sell the Smart Cap on the Lariat and allow it to be a pickup without a shell. I also have a Smart Cap on the Raptor as well as a Truck Vault, both I need for my dogs. If I take a road trip, I will use the Raptor. The Wrangler is just something for local trails and around town. If Jeep offers a significant rebate, I’ll buy a second Wrangler for my wife, she won’t like a few mods I may have add to mine. In other words, I own comfortable vehicles that are very dependable and I will not purposely rock crawl. I caught on a trail with my SXS and thought I was going to die…..not my idea of fun. The SXS was fun, but it can’t be taken to a car wash, must be towed to most trails and the cost of upkeep is thru the roof. I think a Wrangler is a happy medium….., plus it looks cool.

Nope, this was an automatic 2 door 2024 Rubicon X. And no, I don't remember what the price delta was.

Mmm, maybe it's a two-door thing! 🤷‍♂️

@Ratbert

That would make sense, you said you and the misses were looking at a two-door right?
Yep. A few months ago. It seems like they keep tweaking what's in that package.
