That is great advice!!! Also the red rig looks incredible, but like I indicated previously, 35 will be my limit. Do you happen to know if the dealer can upgrade the shocks with the Mopar lift and approximately what is the cost of the Mopar lift installed? The dealer also indicated the Mopar tailgate support I ordered from the factory SHOULD accommodate 35’s, can you confirm?

The tailgate support will be fine. The mopar lift comes with some real cool Bilstien shocks and new springs and all. Here is what I paid for the lift. You maybe able to do better on the labor but I think the parts are about like here...

I still think you should consider one built by AEV. I'm pretty sure you'll just get a 1 year warranty on the addons done by the dealership while everything is 3y / 36k when it's directly built by AEV. The ride quality is about as good as it gets.

I’m not going to be jumping boulders or forging rivers, I will do fire roads, unless I get lost! My goal is for it to look super cool, and negotiate fire roads, this next part is extremely difficult, make me feel the envy of my neighbors. I want to trick it out, more for look than off road ability. However, if I made a right turn on a fire road when I should have turned left, I need it to get my wife and dogs home safely. I don’t camp, hunt and I have lived off the land, all of which is not my objective. Thanks to the info you and others provided, before I take possession, I will have wheels, tires and lift installed….. by the dealer. Afterward, I will ATTEMPT to man up and learn how to turn a wrench!

To clarify, AEV does build 2-doors. You can either buy a 2-door from an authorized AEV dealer or buy elsewhere and ship your rig to AEV.

They definitely do 2 door Wranglers, but they don't post pictures of them because very, very, very few people buy 2 door Wranglers.

You seemed to be primarily concerned about ride quality and a warranty. That's AEV's wheelhouse. But, of course, they're not for cheapskates.

Ok Ratbert, I throughly researched AEV and discovered, for the lack of a better term, AEV supplies high quality parts to approved installers. In fact, I found two installers in Boise and spent at least four hours at https://talusgear.com/
If I understood the owner correctly, AEV parts are manufactured in the US and items such as vehicle lifts are geometrically correct, meaning the parts are specifically designed for each model. There is a whole bunch more to it that I cannot articulate in writing. However as an example, many Mopar parts, as with almost everything else in this country is made in China. He showed me two examples on the sales floor. As I was speaking with the owner a person drove up in a 392 that was obviously equipped with AEV parts. I initiated a conversation with the 392 guy and he told me, as you did, to go AEV, he was more than happy and the 392 looked incredible. Bottomline, although like you said, it’s not for cheapskates, thank you for pushing me that direction because it is the direction I will go. I do not intend to climb rocks, but it is like a EDC, it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Now another question. I have an 1800 sq ft garage with a 13’ high ceiling. I don’t want to store the shell on the floor and I do not NEED to store it on the ceiling, but I can. What is a good contraption to lift the shell off the Jeep and where is a convenient place to store it so it can be easily reattached?

to place it perspective, when I trained in hostage rescue, a few times we would use auto manufacturing facilities….loud, dynamic and tons of people. In between scenario‘s, i learned QA is non-existent. Although I respect your opinion, I prefer to deal locally, with a company I can hold responsible. Sir, you provided a green Wrangler owner great guidance, for which I am super thankful. Like I told the AEV guy today, I’m am at the end of my life, I just want it to look and feel cool! For your needs and with the dogs, I’d keep it lower and the 33’s should work well for you. It’ll have more articulation/flex than an XR if that’s what you’re starting with. Better mpg also. I’d just get a steel bumper group, winch, & recovery gear and call it a day.

I will see what it looks like with 33’s, but I will mitigate the height with my dogs as they are most important, but if I do with 35’s, I will pay AEV. I just wish it will arrive sooner than later!
