Hoping I can search and find some answers on all things JL. I bought this 2018 last year as a quasi daily/toy. I have work trucks, but don’t need to drive a diesel pickup to meetings/site visits all the time and so I bought this. I’ve had YJ’s XJ’s and ZJ’s but this is the newest jeep I’ve ever owned. Rolled the dice with higher miles, I figure worse comes to worse I’ll out a motor or trans in it. It seems to run great. I’m get the jeep tick on startup, I’ll dive into that this summer I hope. With 140k miles the stock rubicon shocks were shot. I thought I was buying 392 XR takeoff stuff, but I think I just got XR stuff, not sure what if any of a difference there is. However, the rear springs were much taller than the olds, front springs and shocks appeared to be the same. It did lift everything exactly 1”. Is this due to the old stuff wore out or heavier duty springs? Dunno, but it is a definite improvement over what I was working with before. It was also dirt cheap and he threw in the OE sliders. I realize these aren’t the best, but I find them much better than the grandpa step. Just picked up a warn 10k winch and warn stubby bumper. Looking to install this weekend. Anyway, that’s where I’m at with this thing. Just want a few upgrades to light wheel with my boys.

Welcome. The lift could be from springs that dont have 140k miles on them. Could also be they are from a jeep with towing package. When you put the new bumper and winch on, the front is going to drop an inch or so.
So you might be looking for some spacers to correct that.

I did not take tow package into the equation. That would make sense as this one did not come with a tow package.

Welcome. If you haven't yet join https://www.midohiojeepers.com/
they have lots of organized events. I've joined but with two toddlers to chase I can never make it to anything.

Not sure where you are located but we are south east of columbus and making it to trail rides (if we had time) would be really easy as most of them are down in vinton county and they meet in chillicothe.

I’m a social media member, but should really pony up and just become a full member. I’m smack in the middle of Columbus. I have ON X and have been wanting to check out vinton county runs for a while. Doesn’t look like anything this rubicon can’t handle.

I can appreciate trying to find time with toddlers. We now have travel hockey and that seems to be worse! Ha ha

Oh excellent! Ya the $25 for the year is nothin for all the events the group does. They do stock and mod rides so dip your toes in on the stock rides but it looks like a rubicon with 35s can at least drag its belly on a mod ride. It’s actually pretty crazy some of the trails down there are.

I played hockey up until mid way through highschool so I can appreciate that grind. Im definitely hoping my kids don’t want to get into travel sports, it’s so time consuming. So hats off to ya. Now family snowboard/ski trips, thats a travel sport Id be down for when they get older ???
