@BDinTX and I have a faux battle of the heavy Jeeps feud when we wheel together. Us diesel and 392 guys need to band together and fight the real enemy… The 2.0L and 3.6L gang.
Big smile!!!

This is ridiculous. Of course go with the 392, it is the finest vehicle ever made - bar none. Or get the lesser vehicle and spend the money you “saved”overbuilding your rig to compensate for your poor choice. ;)

Is it even a real Jeep if you get a power plant that doesn’t struggle?
Immediately reminded me of the 3.8 in the early JK years...

Wow, don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel?. “The finest vehicle ever made”? Really? A freaking Jeep? I love them and have had them for decades but nobody (and I mean Nobody) ever claimed they were the finest vehicles ever made. Let’s see, they ride lousy, they handle weird,, they’re noisy, build quality is the pits, dealer service is amongst the poorest in the industry and occupant crash protection is poor. On top of all that, they’re quite thirsty (esp the 392) and they’re slow compared to almost any modern vehicle, esp anything that costs over 60% of the price of a Jeep (the 392 is “quick” but it’s darn sure not “fast”-my EcoD Ram 1500 will out run one on top end, and it’s not fast.) Fun vehicles, you betcha. Easiest and most after market modded vehicle on the planet? Absolutely. Finest…um don’t think so.

I’m glad you like your Jeep, and hope you have years of fun with it, but please don’t drink any more Jeep koolaid-it’s dangerous?

Ha, if you are looking for intelligent un-opinionated commentary, that is not me. All I can say is I’ve wheeled and raced the fuck out of mine for 20k miles and I stand by my statement. ?

I’m glad you enjoy your Jeep?. That 392 is a quick bunny and fun for stoplight to stoplight (and Stellantis ought to bottle the sound that puppy makes in performance mode!).

Jeep folks are a funny breed-we happily put up with crap you’d never accept in ANY other vehicle and pay big $$ for it. Still, as the ads used to say “Jeep-there’s only one”?

Good points, I'm sure he was being sarcastic. I have another vehicle that meets all the quality statements he made, about 1 second faster then a 392 to 60, about 80 mph faster on the top end, and no need to brake in corners. So I have my "need for speed" covered.....

It’s weird. People who’d squawk and complain like there’s no tomorrow if their Accord had an issue will happily accept far worse stuff from a Jeep. RV folks are even worse. They’ll plunk down hundreds of $k for a motorhome that has lousy build quality and then wind up fixing it themselves and buying another one th the same kind of issues. (I know, I’ve had both types of vehicles for years?). If a reputable company was to build either vehicle type with actuality for anywhere close to current prices Jeep and the RV companies would be in Serious trouble. However on the Jeep front all you have is the Furd Broncysaurus and in motorhomes they are all POS’s. We’re all nuts?

You should have posted this in the 3.0 6-Cyl Turbo EcoDiesel section so you could get a completely unbiased opinion of the better power plant. Leaving this in the General discussion area will get you flooded with incorrect answers from 392 owners. ; )

I'd stick with the diesel.
This is soooo completely backwards from reality......you think going to the diesel forum will get you un-biased opinions? Crazy sauce.....

I have a 392 on order......after 6 1/2 months I have doubts it will ever get delivered, so there is my background.

If the poster loves the diesel, and it is the 2nd best engine ever put in a Wrangler IMO.....by all means keep it. There is alot to love about it.

I myself have thought about a '24 392 , but with the lack of interesting colors that match to the HORRIBLE red seats and trim, the Renegade grill, and the afterthought designed screen, my conclusion is that the '21-'23 is a much cleaner design (plus the trade would cost me $11,900).

‘22 JLURD here, paid cash. The idea of going into debt on a Jeep is a nonstarter. Keep the diesel.
Amen, auto debt is just as bad at killing wealth these days as credit card debt. The vehicles are too expensive, the rates too high, the acceptance criteria too easy and the terms too long.....as a result, people are buying WAY too much vehicle for their income.

Get this guy out of here! He is obviously biased! @BradyW can stay though because he clearly knows the 2.0 and 3.6 are inferior ; )
