The world does not need another Hell's Gate video; there are many. But, this was MY first attempt at the Gate, so I made a movie. Hey, nobody says you have to watch it! :D
P.S.: the first person to tell me not to stand up in the saddle will be summarily ignored!

Great video! And no, I hadn't seen anyone comment on how challenging it is to get down to the bottom.

I've done Hell's Revenge a few times, but I've never had full combo of spotter, capable rig, and balls. Unfortunately my last run was solo.

p.s. don't stand up in the saddle! ;)

Hey, if you're willing to run Hell's Revenge you can do the Hokey-Pokey in the saddle if that helps! :)

You can ignore me all you want, but this is just plain dumb. No seatbelt on an obstacle that is known to roll people very badly is not something you should post. Plus you are holding onto your roof rack support, a likely spot to be crushed when you roll.

Great video! I say keep making videos of hells gate! You actually made that look easy! Great job!

I think I would be nervous standing up like that though, not sure if the weight could shift and work against you.

Well done! And great video. Thanks for sharing. I don’t blame you for standing up to see a little better

Off road noob here...completely stock Rubi XR? Which engine? Tell us what other config settings you used (Sway bar, lockers, what air pressure did you air down to, did you use select speed control while standing etc.)

That descent has a couple of big, off-camber, tippy steps near the top. I had walked it a couple of times and never liked it. It's STEEP. I don't know why people don't talk about it/show it.

That's a mostly-stock Rubicon Xtreme Recon. I have added an engine/oil pan skid plate and ARB diff covers, totally unnecessary for this obstacle. 3.6L etorque. Sway bar disconnected, of course; Essential for articulation. Rear locker engaged, though probably not needed. Front locker not engaged; not needed at least in a Rubi, and engaging the front locker can make quick steering adjustments tough. That's what I would fear most here. Tires are the XR's stock 35-inch KO2s, deflated to 15 PSI. Plenty sufficient for this obstacle--though I have found other spots in Moab where beadlock tires, down to 8 PSI, would be much more effective. I failed to clear the final ledge on the Chute on Flat Iron Mesa two days later because my tires just wouldn't hook up. 37-inch beadlocks at 8 PSI would have made it a breeze. No, hell no, regarding select speed control. Ever. I am controlling the throttle. I am standing on my left foot while working throttle with my right. You should never do this. As others said, keep your seatbelt on and hands inside the Jeep. Always. Only I should do this. ;) LOL.

I was just there last month. You’re right. Nobody talks about the way down. I didn’t do it. I got too scared. Great job making it all the way.
I was there like six times over the course of 2.5 years before I finally felt good about doing it.

Well, I watched and enjoyed it, nice work! As much as I hate to admit it, 25 yo me would have tried that in a second but 50 something me has gotten, well lets say, less adventurous, damn it.

I've run Hell's Revenge one itme. I hooked up with a few guys from PA at the dinosaur tracks near the beginning. They were in a JKUS and a YJ. The YJ driver spotted the JKUS and I down into Hell's Gate and back up the other side. He, understandably, wasn't comfortable attempting it with his short wheel base.

For a first timer especially the route down was just as, or maybe more, intimidating that than going up.

The spotter I had was great. I had no issues going down or up. It really seemed pretty simple. We've all seen a hundred videos of people making Hell's Gate look really hard. The key is to stay on both walls and stay as level as possible. Never let either side get too deep into the V or you'll slide off the wall, which will make things much more difficult.
