I thought the video was amazing! I've never done anything remotely close to that. I was wondering though, do you think a front camera would've been useful in that situation? Would it have allowed you to remain seated? Just wondering. The only situation I get to use mine is scoping ruts in the sand on the beach. ?

Thank you!
Yeah, a front cam would make it easier. But, I don't want it to be that easy. I custom-ordered my Jeep, and I did not choose that option. I don't want to be TOO tech-dependent, though in a JL Rubi with an automatic, I obviously have a ton of tech advantages as it is.

Thanks. Yeah, my line at the top was sub-optimal and I wish I would have done it cleaner, but I stayed calm and steady on the throttle, and corrected. My heart was POUNDING after I decided I was going to do it, as I walked back to my Jeep, as I started into the entrance. But once I was in it, I was calm.
The spot where this guy gets in trouble I believe is the spot you're referring to when you say your line was sub optimal near the top, where you lifted your front passenger tire a little. In that spot you want to be more on the passenger wall. You can see in this video the spotter is telling him to turn to passenger. The driver either couldn't see the spotter, or wasn't paying attention.

This is just stupid. Congrats on your survival.

Yeah, that guy was WAY off. I was just a wee bit off. Suboptimal = good enough. :D

I think doing it while standing/not belted in is just irresponsible. You can say that you are only endangering yourself but you it makes us all look bad.

I am not sure I would do this but I am pretty new to off-roading. I come from a long history of drag racing and have crossed the finish line at 206 mph, on fire, backwards and against the guardrail and gotten out without even shaking and I have had plenty of other moments that were just as bad. The one thing I could always count on is that I had top of the line safety gear. My starting line team would tighten my 5 point harness and my helmet so tight that I thought I would pass out, I had a full funny-car cage, full on board fire extinguisher system, the best fire clothing you could buy and a prefect fit top of the line helmet. Though what I did was dangerous, I played the cards by being as safe as I could be for myself, my family, the spectators and the drag racing community.

Be smart out there.

Hahaha, thank you! The video production/soundtrack assembly etc. is a really fun hobby for me. But I'm only giving the driving an 8; I don't like that I lifted that tire.

I think you mean well, but... drag racing is not Jeeping--to which you state that you are new.
I have many, many hours in the saddle and many trail days. I have a better feel for the speed (or lack thereof), the forces, the angles, the tipping points etc. involved in Jeeping than you do.
I also have a LONG history of hardcore whitewater kayaking, rock climbing, and mountainbiking. I have a different perspective on risk than some people, and a different level of athleticism, and I have always been known as someone who is safe and responsible about doing hard things.
I might do it differently than some people, but it is not done recklessly or without thought.
I'm open to other people's perspectives, but ultimately, my own council will I keep.

You be you but no matter how you look at it, it's not smart.

I have also thrived on the side of danger my whole life but I use safety gear as it should be used. Except when Mountain Biking, there isn't a good way to protect yourself so I just send it.

I am old now and but still very athletic and in shape, my brain is different now on most things.

I noped out when I went. I got to ride passenger with @COJeeper though and he drove up it like a pro.

Maybe one day I'll get up the nerve but that first time was not that day. ?

Hey, I noped-out six times before finally doing it. You should only do it when it feels right.

I live in BC, Canada and I need to go Moab to try this.. Well done..
There's a lot to this one trail (Hell's Revenge) that most of us don't attempt. Here's another video of some of those sections. I hadn't seen this guy before, but I kinda like his stuff.
