Not the biggest fan of steer by wire, just like Ill never be a big fan of brakes by wire when that eventually becomes a thing.

Steering by wire isn't too far off from full hydro steering.

I'm hesitant, but would trust a proven technology given enough time. FWIW: airplanes are steer by wire.

Also not something I would really consider for a daily. If its a trailer-ed rig whatever but steering and brakes are the 2 things you should always have control over no matter what.

Pretty sure TFL has done that with the JLU vs other 4x4s. Gonna have to dig through their channel when I get home in a few minutes.

Oh yeah, I guess that would work too assuming similar tire size/axle ratio.

Yeah, would have to be a 3.6 auto and 3.6 manual, stock Rubi, 4L + 1st gear, see who creeps the slowest

I remember they had to redo it, because the 8 speed starts off in 2nd gear and they didn't know that at first. lol.

And that has been dialed in over how many decades with a ton of backup systems. Last thing I trust is any auto makers first go at it let alone Musks attempt.

The auto can't really keep up with how fast the RPMs change... the manual might have a chance (or just skip gears)

They've had over 50 years to get that technology right. And they lost several planes when they were first getting started. And the people designing the software had to meet much higher safety standards before the govt signed off on it.

I'll wait a couple of generations before I trust something like that on a car.

They'd have to skip gears at WOT. 1st would be gone in the blink of an eye.
