Crazy thread, here.

My two cents...I bought a Rubicon, but I'm no snob. Having read this thread and pondered my own thoughts about it, I think about it this way...

If I were in the market for a Wrangler and was leaning toward the Sahara side of the capability spectrum, and the MOAB was an option, I would definately go with the MOAB. I don't like "fancy, city-slicker" looks and refinement (i.e. - I don't care for chrome) as I prefer the more rugged look. So city-slicker guts with off road looks...I could easily live with that.

As for me, the MOAB wasn't available when I got the Rubicon, but even if it were, I wouldn't have changed anything. Resale for my Rubicon will exceed that of the MOAB. The price difference (in favor of the MOAB) at purchase for comparably equipped vehicles will be triple that (in favor of the Rubicon) years down the road.

Personally, I don't feel like I'm losing much with the Rubicon on city streets when commuting on snow covered roads as compared to the Selec-Trac versions...at least not enough for me to change my decision. This is based off the fact that I may only need that extra bit of on-road capability two times a year.

I do like the blacked out looks of the MOAB, just prefer the Rubicon's red accents more.

You can do this with a Tazer too[/QUOTE.

Absolutely......I have tazer mini, and have tried it, but I have the beta version of 11.0.7 loaded, and the locker enable setting on MY tazer isn’t as instantaneous, and is a little buggy, so I choose at this time to use my method. Again this is just MY situation, I haven’t heard anyone else having this problem. Maybe when the official release is out and I do update it will work fine. And there’s no need for tazer police here, I love it, and haven’t had a bit of trouble with it.:)

very reasonable post but you are way overestimating the difference in resale. Traditionally Rubicons have held value better than Saharas but not by much. They all have good resale. Shouldn't really be a consideration in which model you buy. If you wanted to maximize resale you would buy a base Sport 4-door automatic.

Hey i cant wait until all the MOAB purchasers start dumping those loud ass tires for ko2’s of rubicons.
Its because you Rubi owners immediately ditch your KO2s for monster truck tires.... someone has to buy the takeoffs. :cwl:

We have to get rid of the training wheels at some point
To be honest, I am thinking of going to either Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac or BFG KO2s (32" version) when my current set wears out. The KO2 tires seem to run pretty smooth though.

I like them a lot. Might go to the 35’s when they wear out, but unless they raise the speed bumps at Starbucks, I should be ok.

I don't think the breakover angle is good enough on a 4 door wrangler for those speedbumps... You might need a lift to go with the taller tires...

Morning. This thread still going on?
Some of the Rubicon owners had to get new computer screens after they went smashy smashy last night... it will start back up soon. :giggle:

They should have called it "Everglades" or "Wetlands" edition instead of "Moab". LSD+automatic transfer case+mild lift+mud tires is actually the ideally combo for folks that want to traverse marshy terrain.

I think all the derision is solely based on the fact that the name doesn't match the features. Most of the JK special editions at least made a half-hearted attempt to do that.

Wait. I thought this was a joke thread? People are unironically choosing Moabs over Rubicons?! Lmao
