Crazy thread, here.
My two cents...I bought a Rubicon, but I'm no snob. Having read this thread and pondered my own thoughts about it, I think about it this way...
If I were in the market for a Wrangler and was leaning toward the Sahara side of the capability spectrum, and the MOAB was an option, I would definately go with the MOAB. I don't like "fancy, city-slicker" looks and refinement (i.e. - I don't care for chrome) as I prefer the more rugged look. So city-slicker guts with off road looks...I could easily live with that.
As for me, the MOAB wasn't available when I got the Rubicon, but even if it were, I wouldn't have changed anything. Resale for my Rubicon will exceed that of the MOAB. The price difference (in favor of the MOAB) at purchase for comparably equipped vehicles will be triple that (in favor of the Rubicon) years down the road.
Personally, I don't feel like I'm losing much with the Rubicon on city streets when commuting on snow covered roads as compared to the Selec-Trac versions...at least not enough for me to change my decision. This is based off the fact that I may only need that extra bit of on-road capability two times a year.
I do like the blacked out looks of the MOAB, just prefer the Rubicon's red accents more.
