So we have a 2019 Sahara that is stock and time for tires is coming.

Wife wants the Black Rhino Primm (black with brass bolts).

I really want to know what the largest size tire I can run with the stock Sahara. I like how 37 look but not sure if I would need to make a lot of other upgrades first.

Tires we are looking at Patagonia Milestar 33x12.5 or 37x12.5.

Any knowledge on this is greatly appreciated!

You won’t be able to run anything over a 33 without rubbing on a stock setup. You can do a 35 but that better be nothing but street driving. Any kind of speed bump or mild pothole you’ll rub your fenders. I wouldn’t do a 37 at all without at least a 2-3” lift.

37s, no way, you will need 3.5”’of lift and everything that goes with it. Expect your Jeep to be 6.5-7” taller afterwards. Then be prepared to upgrade everything that breaks due to the large and heavy wheel/tire combo.

What size and offset are the wheels you want to buy? 17x9 with a +25 to +12 should allow for a max of 285/70/17 (32.7”) on your unmodified Sahara. With your factory wheels you can go with a 275/70/18 (33.2”).

You may want to consider a Rubicon lift with Rubi take-offs and then mount 33’ tires.
A Rubicon take off suspension would be good with 33s, but not necessary. The stock Sahara tires are 32”. Rubicon wheels with 285/70/17s are 32.7” tall.

Choose wisely when looking at wheels. The are so many different offsets, hub centric vs lug centric (always get hub centric) and universal vs dedicated lug patterns (universal 10 hole wheels are weak and are only lug centric). Offsets of zero and into the negatives will cause your wheel to stick out beyond the fenders and could cause some rubbing without a lift.

The rims we plan to get are the BLACK RHINO PRIMM BEADLOCK looks like they only come in 17x8.5 -38 offset. I'm trying to read up on offset now. Will this work. With the 33" tires. I will start looking into a lift to do next.

Thanks for all the help!

You may want to look into the maintenance required with beadlocks. If the vehicle isn't being wheeled hard, beadlocks are an expensive choice for "looks". There are a lot of wheels out there that look like beadlocks and aren't. Then the added weight from them also comes into play.

A -38 offset is way too much poke as well. The max most run is -12 and even then that's a fair amount of poke.

I suggest you go to https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ and punch in some sizes you're thinking of using and go from there.

-38 is ridiculously too much. If you go 33s with no lift those wheels will stick out way too far and will rub on road turning and off road everywhere. That wheel is for a big lft on big tires.

I would not go a -38. For reference here is a -18 on a 19 Sport S JLU. These are black rhino Barstow 17x9.5. Tires are a 35x12.5. I did need to run 2” of bump stop to keep them out of the fenders when I whee.

This was very helpful. I have a quick question if you don’t mind. I have a 2019 Rubicon JLU. Currently running 305/70 R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on stock wheels. Wanting to upgrade to Black Rhino Abrams wheels which are 17” 9.5 -18. Will that work on a stock Rubicon without modifying the suspension?

Rubicons can run 35”s on stock suspension. You have a couple extra inches of clearance because of the high line fenders.

I just did not know if the change to the 9.5 width and the -18 offset would make me rub

You may rub the fender at extreme flex. It will be very little. That would be at the point where you are about to hit the bump stops.
