I had something similar, but not quite. I was at a stop then accelerated and had to veer sharply to the left. It felt like the wheel didn't want to move, after turning, it gave loose and was able to steer normally. It hasn't happened again. I, too, think it's the electric assist, at least in my case. But in yours, assist or not, you would be able to steer. Did the problem go away as you slowed down? In your video, you have some play side to side, then it's able to turn around 50mph, right? High speed lock is dangerous. I would show the video to the service manager, not advisor (ticket writer) and request a tear down of the rack. It's all warranty, so they'll get paid. Steering, brakes and transmission: don't mess with or assume it will go away... If all else fails, I know a good lemon law attorney...

Have you checked where the steering box connects to the pitman arm? Great Grape Ape gave a good overview here:
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...axle-transmission-etc-spied-video-added.1273/
What you felt is what has happened to me. Sometimes itā€™s hard to steer for a bit then it ā€œbreaksā€ free and allows you to steer.

I experienced this Saturday. The wind was gusting to 45-55mph and it was trying to blow me all over the road. The eteering suddeny stiffened up and I couldnt turn the wheel much. When I slowed down it disappeared. When was going with the wind it was completely gone and did not cme back.
We're sorry to hear this, offcamber. Please send us a direct message with your VIN as we'd like to talk more about your experience and help in the best way possible.

This happened to me today as well. Driving about 70 with a posted speed of 65, going into a turn and couldn't steer. I had to brake to keep from going into the next lane. Once I was back to 60, everything was ok. Freaked me out pretty good so I searched the internet and found this thread.

Maybe it is a "feature" to reduce stress on track bar welds....not !

Come on Jeep... at least make them steerable ...is that asking too much?

Sorry you have the same issue. I started a Facebook group chat so people will hopefully get answers. Jeep is installing data loggers into peopleā€™s jeeps to hopefully catch the issue. If you have Facebook and want to be added to the group chat just message me.

Man! I've had my Sahara for exactly 3 months and put close to 6K miles on it with no issues! Until today. After about an hour of driving, when I turned left and then straighten out, the steering wheel locked up for about a second. When it happened the first time, I nearly had a heart attack! I drove about 10 miles back home and did it every time, but only when I turned left. The only thing that sticks out to me is that the weather was in the 80's and I had the AC on pretty high. I'm in Richmond, VA and we are hitting a hot spell and I have never needed to use the AC hardly at all prior to today. I will see if it happens again and will report this issue to the dealer to document it.

The funny thing about this is that I was just telling my wife how lucky we were that we have been problem free thus far! This is my first Jeep and I knew they didn't have the best rep for reliability, but I was sold on the JL. I just came back from a quick drive, and it is still doing it. I don't want to bash Jeep, but I've got serious concerns!

It's sad that one has to say they're "lucky" to pull 10,000 trouble free miles on a Jeep. This company is fortunate to have the most forgiving customers in the business.

Weā€™re having a major issue. Please watch and comment if you have anything related.

I have a 2018 JLU rubicon I am also having the exact same steering issues , I was thinking mine was when it was cold out (around 35deg) I live in Phoenix most mornings are around 45-50 deg and I've had no problems but when I went to Moab UT last week I left early in the morning to go home it was 37 deg and thats when it first happened it scared the heck out of me so I pulled over and that seemed to be the end it until yesterday I was in Sedona AZ again I left early around 35 deg and sure enough as soon as I got up to around 60 mph it did it again I kept playing with it back and forth after maybe 3-4 min it just went away no other problems the rest of the way home I hope this helps

By "Lucky," I was simply saying that I haven't had any of the problems that people have noted on this forum. In no way am I letting this slide with FCA. I will take proper measures as needed. I mean this when I say to you, I hope you don't run into any problems on your JL once you get it, you will have a blast! Cheers!

@JeepCares I am in Canada and has similar steering issue. I notice it more when I drive on the highway. It get very hard to turn right when driving on the highway. The steering week fill stiff. But sometime when I ether turn left or right at lower speed, I feel sometime that the steering is stuck and have to force it to turn.
