Is it possible to get a good deal on a two-door Rubicon hardtop already on lot or should I just not even worry about that and go directly to ordering it? I'm in North Texas and will be in the market very shortly. Also if anybody is looking for an LJ hit me up.

Can probably save a lot of money ordering vs sticker. If your looking 3 months away I would order it. You can also get exactly what you want and not get what you don’t need and save money there also.
join tread lighty and pay below invoice. Mine was loaded, the sticker was 9000 more than what I paid.

I agree with justmefor23. Just realize, you might not be able to control exactly when you get it if you order. Lots of complaints of orders being pushed back or delayed. If this is your only vehicle, you might find yourself stranded if something happens to your LJ

There's absolutely no reason why you can't get a good deal on a vehicle that's on the dealer lot. I did. I went into my dealer looking for something specific and was ready to order, but it turned out they had the vehicle I wanted in stock/in inventory.

If you find the vehicle you want that's on a dealer lot or in dealer inventory, push for a deal. It's as simple as that. You're in control. If you can't get the deal you want, place and order.

OP, would you consider yourself more patient... or more flexible?

If you're patient, order a Jeep.
If you're flexible, see what's on the lot.

the issue with the lot is that each dealer has an allocation for what they can order. if you take something off the lot, then no one else can buy it and pay more than you. this means it costs the dealer money potentially made on that jeep. if you factory order, it doesn't come out of the dealer's allocation. you are buying a jeep that doesn't exist, it would not be possible for the dealer to sell it to someone else for more money.

that said, there is no absolute rule that dealer has to discount a jeep at all. there are many dealers that realize they can make some money and win your business from someone else by giving you a discount. some dealers don't discount even factory orders.

There are some formal programs that offer discounts, e.g. Costco Auto, Affiliate pricing (commonly referred to as the Tread Lightly discount), employee pricing, etc... Even these formal programs the dealer is not required to participate in. But you could ask.

It all depends on the dealer. You should reach out to one or more dealers that you might use and ask them what discounts or pricing they would offer you.

There are 259 new 2-door Rubicons for sale in the country on Cars.com alone. Many of them are already selling below MSRP (and this is already asking price, they may go down a bit more if you are ready to buy now).

The car market is collapsing, sales are way down and will continue to go down. Most Jeep dealerships have inventory now and it's not selling well. Who knew that crazy inflation, massive layoffs, stock market erosion and Jeep's 7.26% APR would kill demand for $60K-$90K beach toys? ?

I made a mistake of ordering a Wrangler (also a Rubicon, but a 392) on July 3rd, 2022. I took advantage of one of the below-MSRP offers from one of the dealers on this forum. Almost 7 months later, I still don't have a Jeep. There is no rhyme or reason to the lottery that takes place at the Jeep factory. You may order a model with every possible option and get it in a few months OR you can order a base model with a very few options and spend a better part of the year waiting. I had a chance to buy a 392 off the lot with a $10K mark-up back in July last year and I was stupid enough not to do it. Since then I lost many thousands of dollars in tax benefits (Section 179), then lost thousands more when I had to invest money into maintaining the SUV I currently drive and will lose many thousands more in the near future because the bubble has burst and my trade-in value is in the shitter. Overall, it would have much cheaper to pay the $10K mark-up and avoid the stress and aggravation.

If you literally do not care when you get the Jeep (and when I say "literally", I mean you won't be upset if you wait for 7+ months) and have something else to drive (that you are very happy with), then by all means order one. Otherwise, negotiate and get the one off the lot.

Yes, it's possible to get a good deal of the lot. Go ahead and look.

Just make sure you check out the spreadsheet in my sig. No haggling over prices when custom ordering through one of those dealerships, but custom ordering requires patience. You do, however, get exactly what you specify.

A factory order counts against dealer allocation.

I wanted a Sport S with tan seats and could not find a single one on a dealer lot nationwide. So I ordered. if you are similarly attached to a certain spec, the lot might might not be an option at all.
