Hey everyone. Had something weird happen this morning that never happened before

started the truck and it took longer to start. Almost like when I replaced the fuel filter /water separator and it cranks a few times

I turned it off and started it again.
Anyone run into this ?

I dunno! I just pray to sweet, little baby Jesus that it even starts. Also, (sorry if I sound like a dick here) please don’t call a Jeep Wrangler a truck šŸ˜‚.

That's significantly better than calling it a car.
On one of my wranglers registration, it was classified as a convertible. I don't remember which year that was.

What do you call it then? An SUV? For some reason that feels even more wrong.

I just call it a Jeep.

Yes, Jeep works, let’s go with that.

I've not experienced that yet. If the second attempt was normal crank time it would seem less likely to be a battery issue but I'd probably check the voltage on it anyway. Sounds like a fuel problem... : ( good luck

I call mine a truck all the time...My JLURD identifies as a truck and I don't want to disrespect.

Technically it is an SUV. It's the original SUV.

I just call them jeeps. It's the only jeep that's actually a jeep still being manufactured. Everything else is just fluff

The proper name of a Wrangler and its forefathers is Jeep. It can also be referred to as a vehicle. It is not a car or truck. A JT may properly be called a truck or Jeep, but not a car. A Bronco is not a Jeep.

Diesel owners should be more helpful to each other. There's only about 7 of us left.
For the rest that are sharing their profound thoughts on what it should be called, I think the point has been made.

OP, check or replace you fuel filter to verify it isn't clogged or leaking causing the system to loose pressure. I would start there. It could also be a faulty fuel return valve.

Thanks for the reply, i replaced the fuel filter 4 months ago, i replaced it at every other oil change , the fuel pump recall was also done in January. I think my Banks Derringer may be the culprit,, but cant verify it

I had that same issue when I replaced the fuel filter and mine persisted slightly for a couple starts. If it feels the same as when you replaced your fuel filter I’d say look at the fuel supply system or, as you thought, the electronics that regulate the fuel supply. If you didn’t torque the fuel filter it could be that even though it’s been 4 months. Those O-rings need to be lubricated with diesel before you install the fuel filter or it can stick, be up to torque spec and act like it’s sealed up but leak later. Check under the Jeep to see if any diesel has dripped. Same song different verse with the oil filter. Lubricate the O-rings.
