Just back from the dealer again. This is a different dealer that I made an appointment with 2 months ago (their soonest available appointment). Dropped off the Jeep early this morning and explained the issue with the service writer. He didn’t have a clue so I talked with his boss and he said they’d probably need to order a whole new axle after the “technician “ diagnosed the issue. I showed him the newest service bulletin that shows you can now just order the sensor. He said great. 5 hour later I get a call and they tell me a technician won’t be able to look at my Jeep until Thursday. I go politely ballistic and ask to talk with the service manager. He says they are busy. I say that’s why I made an appointment 2 months ago. I then explain the whole thing again about them still needing to order a part and it will only take 5 minutes for a technician to verify. This was an hour ago. I’ll see how it goes. Maybe they just want to wear me down so I’ll order the $300 part myself.
Yeah, I don't get the whole appointment thing and having to wait. Most good shops beat the allotted time for repairs and pocket the extra pay. Seems like Jeeo dealerships are going in the opposite direction. I'm demanding a loaner vehicle every time they go beyond the day they say it will be ready. I don't need it, but it's necessary to speed them along.

This the reason why I went ahead and potted my sensors the minute I got the jeep home! I did both my JL and JT. Beat a $300 sensor and wasted time at the dealer. Honestly this is to simple not to do. I wish you the best of luck and now you will have to wait till the part comes in and the dealer to get to it!

So now after the dealership has had my Jeep for a week they are telling me that they are going to order a new rear axle. This after telling me that the sensor would be in yesterday and installed today. So I said I'd like to pick up my Jeep and would bring it back when the axle arrives. I was informed that if I picked up my Jeep I would lose my place in the queue and it might be a couple of months before it could be installed. I was also told that no loaner cars are available. They did say I could try and go find one myself and then try and get reimbursed from Jeep. I love my Jeep when it's running but not sure if I want to live with this kind of treatment from a dealer if it needs warranty work.

I'm really concerned that if I pot my sensors before my warranty expires and there is any other issue with the Dif that they will try and deny the claim.

I have a contact at my local dealer here. I can get an axle assembly from him in 1 day. Your dealer should be able to see this sitting in the warehouse here in NC, but you shouldn't have to wait long to get the assembly. I know they're available.

Agree. That is where I am at. If I pot it, chances are it won't fail. But if it does, I don't trust the dealership to honor the warranty.

I’m going to order a couple of nice dif covers and potting stuff. When and if I ever have my Jeep back I’ll hopefully fix the issue that Jeep should have taken care of 2 years ago with a recall.

They could try and deny the claim for a number of other reasons too depending on the dealer. I look at like potting the sensors hopefully makes it last longer IF there was going to be a issue without them potted.

Just make it look professional if you pot them and maybe the tech won't even know the difference lol ?

If the sensor has already failed then potting it won’t help, or are you saying you’ll pot the new sensor once it’s in?

There’s no way they’re even pulling the sensors to inspect them. Even if they did I doubt they will know what they’re looking at.

The new ones as soon as I get my Jeep back. Why does it have to be this difficult?

You have summed up the typical dealership experience in one post, well done!!
Alternatively, you could order the zauto bypass harness and save yourself the headache. Saw a smoking deal in the classifieds here just the other day.

Because they bypass the sensor, so not a true fix.
