FWIW, I ran the bypass harness for awhile and vibration eventually broke one of the wires going to the little box. I decided I wanted to pot the sensors for peace of mind.

Wick, it’s still under the powertrain warranty, by one year/20K miles. I have a dreaded appointment with a dealership on Monday. I’m prepping for the inevitable battle. You might get lucky by draining the oil and potting your sensors. I did. Don't wait.
I understand, but the new sensors will fail too. I wouldn't waste my time at the dealer, just pot what you got.Wick, it’s still under the powertrain warranty, by one year/20K miles. I have a dreaded appointment with a dealership on Monday. I’m prepping for the inevitable battle.![]()
It’s hard to answer for someone else. I would say you only need average ability, and some patience while potting the sensors. If you haven’t already seen it, @chevymitchell , gives an excellent explanation of what it entails here. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/locker-position-sensor-potting-dana-44.59581/I just had this issue pop up on my 2019 while making a very long drive. I’m going to just replace the sensor but am wondering if this is an easy task I can do myself or should I take it somewhere to have it done? I know basic mechanics but that’s about it. I have about 106,000 miles on her if that matters.

Cheaper to get a locker bypass harness and plug it in. Got mine for $25.00I just had this issue pop up on my 2019 while making a very long drive. Link for said harness? I potted both of my sensors at 4,000 miles, but now the rear warning light is flashing. I’ve heard that new sensors are available already potted. no idea where to find those eitherCheaper to get a locker bypass harness and plug it in. Got mine for $25.00
