Once upon a time, before my Jeep was even on the assembly line, I read @chevymitchell's fantastic Locker Position Sensor Potting - DANA 44 post. Then and there, I resolved to prophylactically pot the locker position sensors in my future Jeep, adding the item to my planned mod checklist.

Cut to a week or so ago, I finally got far enough down my list to order potting compound and gear oil. Over the weekend, I removed my rear differential cover to pull the locker position sensor for surgery. That's when disaster struck - turns out my '23 Rubicon has an updated locker position sensor and I had wasted $20 on potting compound!

The moral of the story is '23 and newer Jeeps appear to have updated, well sealed locker position sensors.

And here's the kicker: since Amazon won't allow me to return it, I'll postage paid ship (US only) my mistake purchase potting compound to the first poster who wants it, owns a pre-23 Rubicon, and is brave enough to tackle the locker sensor potting project.

I am in need of potting my sensors on my 19 JLUR, that the dealer just replaced in February

These new lockers and sensor started being used in November of 2022.
Good to know, thanks! Any idea on if they can they be used for previous model years?

I have no direct experience with the older version, but it looks like the new sensor mates to the rest of the assembly differently so upgrading would be more involved than simply swapping the sensor.

Unfortunately, they are not directly compatible. However, with some aftermarket electronics and a full diff swap it could be done.

IIRC, there have been a few posts about the new sensors failing as well, so I would probably still pot them if given the chance.

but will they be able to use them on prior models? would they still send you five to get one that works?
