After spending way too much time on here and reading about some of the options I was otherwise unaware of when I purchased my Sport S, I decided to try and alter the order by adding half doors and a premium top. Unfortunately, the order was rejected by Fiat. So the dealer went ahead and cancelled the order. I'm going in tomorrow to see if I'll be able to transfer the deposit to a new custom order or if I forfeited it by cancelling. I'll also find out if I'm able to retain the 1% below invoice, which I realize is not as good as some, but as long as I can afford it, I'm fine with it.

Now comes the real question, do I just say F it and try for the Rubicon or go with the budget Sport S model for $6k less? I'm going to need to keep the total out the door cost below $50k, and according to the Jeep configurator, I'm sitting at $45,435 before tax/license/dealer fees on the Rubicon with premium top, half doors, and gorilla glass. I do wish the XR package was available in a 2dr, but such is life.

ETA: Just realized this is probably in the wrong forum, mods feel free to move. Sorry. +(

It depends on your budget and needs of the vehicle. I’m going with the Rubicon because I know that adding lockers and sway disco will be pricey. For me it’s worth it, it’s not for everyone.
yeah, that's the selling point, at some point I'll need gears, I want lockers, although e-lockers are not my first choice, and I want to get a dana 44 up front. $6k for all that is a pretty smoking deal. It mostly depends on what the OTD price ends up being. I do wish they didn't put the rear speaker in the cargo compartment though...that seems kind of bonehead.

Whatever you plan on doing to a Sport S after the fact, you’ll spend as much - if not more - than just getting a Rubi outright. Someone correct me if my thinking is flawed.

Nope, you're totally correct. There's no way I'm getting 2 lockers, gears, 4:1 transfer case, and a frond d44 for the price difference.

Have you thought about ordering out of state? Petersons in Idaho is 5% under invoice. Fly in and drive home, the plane ticket is cheap.
Yep, nothing is off the table right now. If I can make this work and give money to my community, I'll do that first. If they try to charge me more, there's another place in Conroe, TX that someone said were offering better pricing (4% under I think). But if all else fails, then yeah, road trips are good :D.

If you're considering going all the way to Idaho, check out Gupton in Springfield, TN. I placed my order 12/6, got my VIN 12/7, checked in on 12/14 and had an estimated ship date of 1/8.

Not sure how or why it was pulled so quickly, but maybe you'll get lucky too!

Basically, their deal is 6% under invoice if you use their financing and 5% under invoice if you finance elsewhere. There are a couple more details on how long you have to finance under them and the minimum you have to finance, but I don't remember off the top of my head.

To put it in perspective, it took a ~54k 2022 Rubicon order and dropped it to about ~48k. Ask for Daniel or Renee when you call and they will email the details over.

See if you can recoup your deposit money, reach out to Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They're doing 3-4.5% below invoice depending on your build config. My sales guy has been on the ball so far.

Avoid Lithia in Bryan if that's who you're going with, they will inflate the sale price.

I second Petersons in Idaho. Picked mine up yesterday and we are on our way home as I write. Kent was great. The whole transaction was pleasurable and everyone we dealt with at peterson's was a pleasure to work with. I purchased a JLU with the XR package and Petersons installed an Evo 3.5" lift with 2.5" King reservoir shocks. It looks fantastic and compared to my 2012 JK two door, it rides like a Cadillac! I didn't think a jeep could have such a smooth ride on road. Now, when I get home the 37s go on!

For what it’s worth…I have a stock ‘21 Willys that I picked up 4 months ago, and brand new, everything out the door (I am in CA) was $48,500. Certainly has more options on it vs the S, but as others said, it depends what you want to do with it to narrow down your final price.

Now, when I get around to doing my lift and tires, etc, I’ll be well over the $50k mark had I done it all right away ?

Best of luck!
