I mentioned this in another thread, but thought I would start a new thread specific to this issue. 2019 JLU Sahara. 1050 kms on the odo. I bought it brand new 2.5 weeks ago.

So today went to the grocery store. When I got back to the Jeep, it wouldn't start. I pressed the start button and no response. The dashboard didn't even light up. The push button just stayed in the OFF position. However, the radio, horn, interior and exterior lights still worked.

I pulled the starter fuse and swapped it out with another 20A fuse and still nothing. I pulled the starter relay and re-seated it. Nothing. When the tow truck came, he tried jump starting it. Nothing. However, his device showed the battery at 12.2 volts, so the battery is fine.

Towed it to the dealership. Unfortunately, the service dept is closed on weekends. However, spoke with the GM and he says he's never seen this before. He thinks it may not have been PDI'd properly and it's gone into ship mode. But I don't thinks that's the case. I have over 1000 kms on it and I've owned it for almost 3 weeks now.

In my 25 years of owning automobiles, I have never had one leave me stranded until today. I really hope this is a simple fix and not something I have to worry about down the road. I will post updates as they come.

Did you try to start it by pressing the start button with the fob?

Yep. Many times. When I press the start button, the dash doesn't light up. The only thing on there is the "press the brake and start button" graphic. It never goes to ACC position. It's like the button is dead.

I think pressing the start button with the fob was a good idea. It would help eliminate the possibility of a problem with the fob
Itself, like a dead battery in the fob.

I’m assuming you know that physically pushing the start button with the end of the fob itself is the way to start the Jeep if you have a dead fob. If not it’s worth a try. Or try your other fob just in case.

Sorry about your troubles - good luck.

Moving on up .....
I had same thing happen with 1 month old JLU last September and had to have it towed to dealer. Dealer said that the computer lost the coding that associates the key fob smart number to the engine control module and it had to be reloaded. Who knows really, they did fix it and I have not had any issues since.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies. This is what's great about these forums. I can share experiences of others with the dealership and hope that one of these Is the issue and it ends up being an easy fix.

One thing I want to ask you. So when you had this situation, were you still able to lock and unlock your Jeep with the key fob? Because my key fob still works with locking and unlocking.

My guess just bad batteryS and yes it can still leave you stranded even if you see “12.2” I’ve seen it happen numerous times.

So just a quick status update. They were finally able to get the car into the shop late yesterday, but they haven't started looking at it yet. The service advisor has been excellent in keeping me up-to-date on the status. They should be looking at it today and I will post an update.

In the meantime, I've been seriously contemplating the Genesis dual battery kit. I've been reading up on the JL battery issues, and I have no confidence in them whatsoever.

Update: Dealer just got called. It was a dead aux. battery. Service tech road tested the car and all seems to be working.

I'm nervous this will happen again and I've currently lost all confidence in my Jeep.
