Google has shown me a few threads with people who have had a similar problem, but not sure there is a consensus on what causes this issue??

My Wrangler JLU had to be towed to the dealer yesterday with less than 6k KM on it. Still waiting to hear back from the service department.

After leaving the jeep parked for about an hour, I came back and the panel was saying "service electronic stability control"... (had her in for a service 2 weeks ago)...

Worse though, was that I couldn't drive anywhere. The instrument cluster kept telling me to shift to park, which I could do fine, but then when I shifted to any other gear the D, N, R, would be flashing and the panel would tell me to shift to park again.

I also couldn't turn off my Jeep completely because it kept telling me I wasn't in park! I could turn the engine off and on, but not the battery power. Guessing my battery is fried today since it was pretty late by the time the tow truck arrived.

I can update this thread when I hear back from the service department, but wondering if anyone has any insight?? Reading a lot of people had to wait weeks to get their Jeep back after this.

It's the 2.0 liter turbo if that matters.

Could be low battery causing electronic chaos or a bad speed sensor. Sometimes the message/issue can be intermittent and hard to track down if no code was thrown.

Update:

Got my Jeep back today. Service technician told me they don't know what caused it. "Lots of errors".

He said he unplugged some modules and plugged them back in and that seemed to get it working again (after a day of charging because the battery died, as expected).

Not really a satisfactory answer for me. Not blaming the service techs, but a new car shouldn't just stop for no reason. Certainly doesn't fill me with confidence going forward.

Guess I'll just have to live with the fear of going out and being stranded again because my jeep decides it doesn't want to go anywhere.

Update #2:

As feared and, frankly, expected, I picked up my Jeep from the dealership today and on my first trip away from home I got the same error. Couldn't drive, couldn't park, couldn't turn off the Jeep or even put it in neutral. I managed a grand total of 5 KM before I was crocked again.

Once again had to call a tow truck and have my Wrangler towed to the dealership.

This time the service techs said that they are going to completely replace the electronic module that they think causing the trouble. Not sure on a timeline yet, but they will have to order the part in, so I'm guessing at least a week. They've given me a minivan for the time being.

To their credit, Chrysler roadside assistance has been very good through this. And the dealership was very good to squeeze me in at such short notice for the first round of maintenance (although I was never satisfied with their explanation and didn't believe for a second that they had actually addressed the root problem).

Guess we'll see what happens from here.
