lol CR is just always boggled because they can never figure out why the Wrangler sells so well. By their ratings they don’t think anyone should buy a Jeep.
CR is trying to make up for killing the Samurai which was selling 2x the Wrangler

true story I was on a hike and ran into a guy who asked me about my hat. I was wearing a moab hat. he told me had had just got back from moab testing the new JL wranglers....this was right when they were coming out. He told me he was a CR tester. I kid you not when I asked what he thought of them and he said that he thought the Subaru forester was best in class for that catagory......told me everything I needed to know about CR

OK first, it's CR...which means you can just throw it out. We really need to ban CR ratings from this site.

Second, Tesla is at the top of that list, which immediately means it's majorly suspect. Tesla is among the absolute worst in initial quality and reliability. It would be interesting to know exactly what criteria the list uses. Perhaps it only includes powertrain maintenance?

Finally, once you consider that 1/3rd of the Jeep brand's yearly sales are stripped off-road-focused vehicles and they still were barely able to surpass Cadillac and Lexus, things don't look so great.
I remember years ago CR did reliability rankings on a Wrangler and a Cherokee with identical drive trains, they ranked one as excellent and the other as poor. I thought it was amusing.

Funny Story. A fella I worked with bought a brand new Samurai back in the day. He constantly raved about it then one day he raved a bit too hard and challenged his brother in law to a tug O War with his Percheron draft horse team. His brother in law decided one horse was more than enough. That little Suzuki didn’t have hope in hell. The Horse effortlessly dragged him all over the pasture..

I'll throw in my $0.02 here. I regard CR as a beneficial publication for people who know nothing about what they're buying, and have no interest in what they're buying, but they need to buy a product, so they buy someone else's opinion on it since they have little interest in diving deep. That's not to say CR is lying or providing bad data, but they use a set of objective criteria designed for such needs, and that can be really short-sighted.

I realize every publication has bias, and CR proved that for more than two decades of absolutely trashing on certain car makes and models, vehicles which were arguably good and represented good values in the marketplace. The answer to every comparison was "Toyota" whether that automaker deserved it or not. The Camry and Corolla were the gold standard, and both were arguably the most boring, simple, uninspired, and most expensive cars in the used market for more than two decades running. It's because Toyota's cars fit the "every car is a blender or washing machine" model of CR evaluation, and Toyota makes a great line of toasters, blenders, and washing machines.
I think this is very accurate. It's for your buyer who doesn't possess critical thinking or lacks the motivation to think critically. These are the same people who buy a jeep wrangler and come on here to whine about how it handles or tracks or rides because they should have bought light duty crossover.

They came with a five year warranty? Mine was three.
I think he is talking about the powertrain warranty.

bumper-to-bumper warranty is three years or 36,000 miles.

powertrain limited warranty is for five years or 60,000 miles.

This is nearly the polar opposite of my experience. But that doesn't really matter, our experiences are tainted by our own subjectivity. The fact remains that besides being absolutely terrible at evaluating automobiles, CR is biased and should not be trusted. That's why I have always advocated for simply not considering CR's opinions at all. I mean if you want an honest evaluation of the quality of an automobile, you aren't going to go to the PR department of that automaker, right? Looking to CR is a similar mistake.
I guess more importantly, I was surprised by your "They (CR) should banned" comment.

Surely you see that's a huge problem with today's society filled with folks who want to "ban" and "cancel" those who have different views...

Hopefully you were just making a flippant sarcastic point. ?

Yeah kinda...I know they aren't going to be banned...but it's not the same as just banning a perspective we don't like. I mean they were proven to be biased...so just like those facebook and youtube disclaimers that come up whenever anyone posts anything that dares question the climate change narrative, we should have something for CR posts.

I believe CR should held accountable to posting actual facts and not biased opinion. They should have to prove those facts otherwise their articles are no better than reading rumors.
Not banned, but held accountable…

Why do you say this?
Seriously, I'm just curious..
Because CR lies and promotes false narratives to sell more subscriptions.

Now I think about it this sums up a lot of our modern mainstream media and why I've basically just tuned them all out and my life is much better for it.
