That's with KDSS which is better than sway fully connected, but doesn't articulate as well as without. The similar rigs with it disconnected actually score in the low to mid 600s.

And the 700 score is for a 2dr badlands non sasquatch model if I recall correctly? Which is a best case scenario, that's not often seen.

This video is closer to what I've seen. The Bronco is very similar to the 4 Runner. Yes, he has some mods on his 4 Runner, which probably help him. But the Toyota guys seem to be more quick to modify their rigs. I normally see rigs similar to his on the trail, but stock or only wheel and tire Broncos.

So I'm sure that your wife's Bronco is much more impressive than most 4 runners, with her mods. I would say that most trail driven 4 Runners are comparable to most trail driven Broncos.
Yup 2dr Badlands has the highest RTI score, that is with 33" tires AND with the sway bar disconnected.

Dan Edmunds on YT has an RTI ramp at his house and he tests all new offroaders. I'll try to find his videos.

From the video:

522 with the sta-bar connected
648 disconnected

Compared to others he has tested
KDSS Equipped 5th gen 4Runner: 555
KDSS equipped 200 series Land Cruiser: 661

Ford quotes the standard 2-Door Badlands as having an RTI score of 700.

From others:

  • 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition (2DR with 35s) RTI Flex Score w/sway bar engaged: 498
  • 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition (2DR with 35s) RTI Flex Score w/sway bar disconnected: 627 (Have seen 620 as well)
  • Ford Bronco Badlands (2DR with 33s) RTI Flex Score w/sway bar disconnected: 700
  • 4DR Badlands on 33s is about 620 disconnected.
  • 2021 Ford Bronco Outer Banks 4DR Sasquatch RTI Flex Score w/sway bar engaged: 380 (This is from a forum post)

  • 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe RTI Flex Score w/sway bar engaged: 532
  • 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe RTI Flex Score w/sway bar disconnected: 701

Ah yes, another one of those ways the Bronco and 4runner are the same. You have to cut body mounts to fit 35s.... Oops, wait, the Bronco comes with 35s from the factory and fits 37s without any modifications.

If we're looking at overall capability, are we also going to claim that larger tires doesn't really add that much either? Steel bumpers and skid plates from the factory? It all adds up to a WAY more capable vehicle straight from the showroom floor.

The argument here from the haters: "All IFS is the same."
Dude, chill out. There's no reason to get those panties all twisted. The fact is the 4 Runners that are found on trails, and the Broncos that are found on trails have similar performance. You can be butt hurt about it, but thems the breaks.

I'm definitely not in the All IFS is the same group. Fact is that the Bronco is pretty capable, but so is the 4 Runner.

And the Toyota has WAY more aftermarket support. There's a kit that lets Toyotas do this kind of articulation!

So no, not all IFS are created equal.

It is quite literally the same exact obstacle, the squeeze on Elvis Trail outside of Florence, AZ near Box Canyon.
Well then I was wrong. It looks different from my angle than yours.

My panties are twisted, no untwisting these things until everyone admits I'm right and donates to my gofundme!!

I understand your point tho, and in my long term review between the Bronco and Wrangler, size is something i bring up as a negative. The wrangler will just fit more places. And if we include the 4runner in the discussion, the 4runner would beat the Bronco also in that category.

All these vehicles are very capable and have their pluses and minuses but watching an IFS/IRS vehicle go up on three wheels is scary! I wheel with a guy with a Toyota FJ (pic below) he scares there crap out of me some times. Also I was following a two door Bronco on Telegraph Line trail at the nose dive obstacle (pic below) at that was crazy to watch from behind. They both did great over all but made me nervous to watch.

Ya I'll never have a 2 door bronco, they always make me nervous when we wheel with them for this exact reason!

I haven't done Telegraph Line yet, but I hear good things about it. It's on the list!

I had to have my jeep in the shop waiting for an 02 sensor It drove me crazy to be without it for 2 weeks. I watched every jeep vs bronco video I could and then watched the trail hunter videos . I felt. like I was cheating on my wife:crying: I even drove. the chevy Colorado with AEV. Bison package. after watching that video. That was actually a really nice truck comes with 35s and from and rear lockers >. I also watched the broke video. breaking front. cv joints and tie rods. and what you had to do to get them to wear 37's. and one video from Maine overland where he talks about the 2.7 always having turbos on. Which to my very biased mind seems to be a recipe for disaster. When I got my jeep back was sooooooo Haaaaapppppppyyyyy:):):):)
But I agree Tommy seems to be more and more biased. Roman more grouchy. and whether it is about clicks or not I don't want to be out in a bronco and break a front tie rod>. Interestingly enough. I haven't seen that much on the Toyotas breaking stuff. But I hear that they do. and I have seen nothing on the chevy. Colorado with the dev package breaking stuff.
In the end I want something. that I can depend upon upon to get me out. of the stupid choices I make when picking a new road to explore
and to me that is my 24 rubicon x. 3.6

The main thing that I see failing on Toyota is quite commonly is just the front CV joints. Most people who do anything above light trail riding will carry a few spares because they are commonly experiencing torn boots and sheared shafts, etc. But that’s not a Toyota thing, as much as just an IFS thing. Especially in an IFS rig that has been lifted.

It was definitely clear who won that battle no matter what excuses Tommy had.

I had a Bronco WIldtrak for a year, 2 door. This was after owning wranglers for the last 28 years. I recently traded in the Bronco and went back to a Willys XR 2 door. No regrets. The Bronco did drive smoother and the steering was more car like. With that said. I had multiple issues with the Bronco in the one year I owned it. Was actually 14 months but the front and rear cameras went out, rear side window fell out. back defroster tab fell off, wipers stopped working and radio would cut out all the time. The stock tires are downright awful if you drive on rocky roads (collect rocks like none other I have seen). In any case I put 19k miles on it and enjoyed it but I also enjoy the almost go cart style driving of a 2 DR wrangler. I almost gave up on Jeep as the one that I had before the Bronco was an all out lemon. That is what made me go to Ford. Anyway, love the XR Willys and how it drives. The Bronco was more comfy (seats) for long drives but in the end, I will always have a Jeep I guess. I tell folks just to go with what their heart wants. ; ) Both are capable but I think the Bronco is cheaper in build for sure.

TFL lost all credibility in my mind a long time ago... it's a shame.
