I am new to Jeeps and wheeling and only just ordered one. I've already got a spreadsheet with 50 items on it. I'm just trying not to buy any Jeep-specific items until I actually own a Jeep but it's hard.

My name's Jeff...

I hear you. I’m on the fence myself whether to do a lift and 37’s this fall, or go in a different direction with something else.

Worst thing is there’s absolutely no performance deficit with 33’s. I just like the look of 37’s.

But I’m also well aware of the increased maintenance and decreased reliability they bring to the party. :(

Take it wheeling stock at least once. Then you'll know how to prioritize your list and/or trim off some excess items.

That's great advice. I'll try.

Well that's what I told the wife....! So There....!;)
Same.

"But I thought you said you didn't need to buy any mods because it's a rUbIcOn.."

"I did; but this is different and not part of the Rubicon package. What I really said (meant?) was there will be LESS mods. Besides, the line between NEED and WANT is quite subjective..."

Indeed. I bought a gently used Rubi that the previous owners had already put several thousand dollers of mods on earlier this year.

I've already added several thousand more of my own. The only saving grace is that my lady is SUPER happy for me and that we're empty nesters (HALLELUJAH!) with a little extra spending cash. Otherwise this might be a lot tougher.

Cheers OP, enjoy the ride!

Yep... I really want to say I'm done with my Jeep but I know that would be lying. lol.

Lift, 35s and a regear might happen one day after the Jeep is paid off...

Exact.
Conversation.

I did OK for a while, then we went wheeling and got hung up on an obstacle other modded Jeeps were clearing with ease. She said "this is gonna' cost us money, isn't it?" ------ Yup

Sounds like I'm one of the lucky few who's wife knew out of the gate that I was buying an endless money pit that will make it harder to retire early or send the kids to college. She was good with it. After all, the kids are great, but college material? eh....

LOL. This is my Dad. He'd say to my every idiot plan, "Do it. Report back and let me know how it goes." Then I learned he was usually his battalion's point man. I learned to rethink a lot of things after that. My Wrangler's better for it.
