I bought mine off the dealer inventory. If I'd had ordered one I would have opted out.

The reason.

I used to always run a radar detector. The blindspot monitor system uses radar so my detector would go nuts and not be effect. I miss my radar detector. :(
Yup, the main reason I opted out on it. I do lots and lots of interstate driving and rely on my Valentine One.

Cross-traffic warning has already saved me at least twice from getting hit in parking lots. Try backing out and looking both right and left behind you simultaneously.

I got it for the first time on my '16 WRX and although I found it useful at times, MOST of the times it gave me false positives. As in, it'll go off because of god knows what and I panic over nothing. So I decided to go without it on my Jeep.

Also, it's one less thing to break on a FCA vehicle. (I also got the extended bumper2bumper 10 year warranty, I think it was worth the $3k...)

Hey Everyone,

I’ve been sort of waffling between ordering an ‘18 JLU now or waiting for the ‘19 model year but I’m leaning towards the ‘18 now (Travis@TriCityJeep). I’ve pretty much got my order nailed down but I’m on the fence with the active safety group.

I’ve never had a vehicle with the backup sensors and blind spot monitoring so on one hand I don’t know why I would start now but I do have small kids and use a parking deck at work where backing out can be challenging at times. So why not go with one more layer of protection, plus the LED tail lights are pretty nice...

Has anyone regretted getting it? I’ve heard some complaints about AutoPark, but I’m curious what people’s real world experience with the safety package has been. Is it worth it?

Thanks!
Its worth it. That being said - could you live without it if dollars are a concern - Yes.

I currently have my doors off the Jeep right now, and I get a message on the dash that says blind spot monitoring temporarily unavailable. But, with the doors off, you have way more visibility. But, as far as the active safety group, this is my first vehicle with it, my wife has had one with it, but I especially like the camera, just gives that little extra sense of security, especially with kids around.
The camera is included in all Wrangler models starting this year. I believe it’s federally mandated in the US now.

I passed on the option because I ordered a JL so blind spots are minimal and it has a backup camera standard. If it included adaptive cruise control then I would have ordered it.

I'll say this: the wrangler has the smallest blind spots of any vehicle you can buy. If there's one vehicle I'd pass on blind spot monitoring, it's this one. Nice sure, but in no way needed.

But I'm also a fan of minimal tech in cars!

Weird, I had my radar detector just hard wired and placed above my rearview mirror and am not getting any false signals at all! And it's been highway driven for months now.....

I had It on my previous car, but it only monitored the lane changing and when the car would drift across the dotted lines (the steering wheel would vibrate twice), but I do like the rear sensors on the JULR I park between 4 concrete post at work and the sensors help with that, and the other day I was backing out a space at the mall and sure enough it warned me of a vehicle coming, I had not checked visually yet so it is a good backup system...

I love it. The rear cross path detection has saved me tons now, backup sensors are also handy at times. If you do get bothered by it, you can always turn the audible chimes off. If I had to do it over, id definitely order again.
