I bought it for Dynamic Cruise Control but so far it's my least favorite part of the package. It only works well on the interstate and kills gas mileage.

Automatic High Beam and Collision Warning Plus work very well. Happy with the package so far.
That's funny - I have the package and exactly the opposite feelings. I use Dynamic Cruise *constantly* (though, admittedly, only when I get on the freeway) and it's one of my favorite features.

The Automatic High Beam is annoying to me - way too sensitive, and the Collision Warning Plus works, but [for me] has had more false-positives than true positives. Usually when someone in front of me is turning off a big road and into a business/parking lot, and I'm coming up behind them. *I* can see that I'll easily miss them by the time they turn in, but the Jeep doesn't think I will.

$0 deductible on glass is ALWAYS worth it.
I added that to my insurance, and I'm convinced that's why I'm on the same original windshield after 31mo and 33,500 miles. I even hit a bird with it. Blood and feathers everywhere, but not a mark after I washed it off.

We are probably opposite because I don't hit the interstate much. Dynamic Cruise is too jerky on back roads with lots of hills and curves.

I have LEDs so Auto High Beam sensitivity keeps oncoming traffic from flashing me if that makes sense? They see my High Beams on just long enough to know I've dimmed my lights. Otherwise I get flashed and have to flash back.

IMHO, you might be following too close if Collision Warning Plus gives too many false positives. I have the sensitivity on mine set to "High" and rarely get a warning. At first I didn't think it was working but know what you mean. Maybe give "Low" a try?

Why does the JL need to be recalibrated when it gets a new windshield? Unlike most cars, the sensor array isn’t mounted to the glass. It doesn’t even fold down when you fold the windshield, so how can the calibration be that sensitive?

Either way, I'll take it. The couple bucks a month? Worth it.

You find ACC kills your mileage?
Yes, around the suburbs with hills where traffic is moving just fast enough for Cruise Control. I anticipate traffic and can be much smoother on the throttle. I'm sure it's great on the interstate but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

This makes sense. I've tried ACC in traffic before, and while it works, it's a pretty bad overall experience.

Even on the lowest distance setting, it leaves too much room between me and the car in front of me and people were constantly pulling into this space. It's annoying (that's safety space, not space for you, jack-hole) AND unsafe because of the few seconds it takes to recognize the new vehicle, so in many instances the car in front of me would speed up, so the Jeep would accelerate, but then someone would cut in and it would take the Jeep a second to see them and then slam on its brakes.

Overall, the ACC definitely needs some smoothing and calibration. It also has trouble recognizing when a car in front of me takes an off-ramp - it still sees them "in front of me" for several seconds.

Yeah we have a ton of freeway driving in the valley, so it's nice. I can understand what you mean now.

I haven't had any problem with the Advances Safety functions since replacing mine and not doing the re-calibration. My new one cracked this week. I'm hoping it will stay on the passenger side so I can wait to replace it for a while.

Surely it was just a dummy on the phone spewing info off the top of their head thinking wrangler windows and collision modules are the same as other vehicles.

If it were that sensitive we'd never be able to fold the windshield down without needing re-calibration every now and then.

JLR on order... bought the safety package but not the advanced safety package. Reading this, I think I made the right decision. This will not be our primary long freeway driving vehicle. Around town an off road mostly. Also will be a toad. Figured those extra sensors I've never had in 45yrs of driving won't be missed. I do kind of like the warnings in the side mirrors though I think that comes with the standard safety package.

My exact thoughts on both options. FWIW, I drive a BMW i3 with an ACC pilot and is a nice to have for congested stop-go traffic as it keeps the car inching along without much input. I do not use it for actual cruising as I like to speed up and down with urban traffic + people cutting in-front seem to throw it off a little and have to stay vigilant anyway. For normal Interestate hwy cruising the standard cruise controls will be fine. That is why this option at $895 is not something I would consider as I would have little to no use for it. Best direct the savings towards the XR package :)
