Basically the title. Went under the Jeep to jiggle stuff around to see if anything was off, lo and behold…see video below. How worrisome is this? 2021 2 door 32k miles, no issues driving.

Definitely not. Vertical play is an absolute indicator of wear. It should be replaced.
Ok that’s what I thought and was really surprised when the other guy said it looked ok.

Any guesstimate on how long I’ve got until DW becomes an issue or things really start going downhill? I’ve got so much other stuff to buy, new steering was not on the list until July/Aug.

It probably won’t cause death wobble. It’s just one tie rod.

I would replace soon. Every time you have a death wobble event it is hammering on other joints that may of had plenty of life ahead . Better to prevent DW than to keep chasing it because other joints were hammered to death.

That rotation of the end is normal. It has to have some rotation on the inner ball or it would bind under articulation. The best way to check the ends is to have someone rock the steering wheel with the jeep off so you can load the ends to see if they have movement. If you get ends that are " popping " they should be replaced.

That's funny, I also have a 2021 with 36k miles. I've been trying to track down a pop when coming to a stop. I discovered that when somebody is rotating the steering wheel back and forth, the drag link joint at the pitman arm is clicking and visibly pops. I don't *think* this is causing the pop when stopping but we'll see.

I had a couple people tell me it's ok but you should get it replaced. I ended up ordering an OEM joint and just replacing it instead of the entire drag link. I wanted to keep the price down, not deal with an alignment, and in the back of my head I'll be trading it in sometime soon.

With my limited knowledge, I would replace it sooner than later. It's not going to get better. I think the cheapest upgrade is Metalcloak's.
