Just took our 2021 JLUR to the dealer today for the same thing. We smelled burnt rubber and didn't know why and this was the cause. I don't understand how this could happen. We still have the stock wheels/tires.

Same issue for me. I can post a pick latter, I was also heading home from Moab 3 weeks ago. Wind in Utah is no joke!

Same issue with our 2021 Rubicon 4xE. Just returned home to the Bay Area from Colorado. We had a strong headwind through most of Utah and while slowing down to exit for gas our Jeep made a
sound like the brakes were going bad. Subsequently we discovered both fender liners had come loose and were badly beaten up by the front tires.
My experience at the dealer today wasnā€™t positive as I got a (Weā€˜ll look into it)response with a does of skepticism that itā€™s a warranty issue. I asked that the issue be elevated and hope to hear better news tomorrow.
BTW the vehicle is 3 weeks old.

Mine is at the dealer today getting new fender liners installed. Mine is a 2021 eco Rubicon. We hit high winds on our way to Moab a month ago and both fender liners where eaten up by the front tires. My dealer was like no problem we will handle it. I checked the fender liners in a gladiator and a 392 that where on the showroom floor and they where a much thicker heavier material than the ones that where on my jeep. Hopefully they've updated the part.

The same thing happened to my 2018 JLU Sport and I thought the noise was from the new steering box because it happened just after the TSB was done. They couldnā€™t identify the noise. Now that Iā€™m out of warranty weā€™ll see if they will still replace the fender liners since it clearly happened when it was still under warranty.

The service department called this morning and said they are going to replace ours. Iā€™m glad I donā€™t have to replace them myself but hope they can make an improvement on the original configuration as weā€™re heading back to Colorado in 3 weeks. Interstate 70 is a beast!

Well that's good news. Yes, I70 is a beast. It seems it has eaten numerous jlu fender liners. I'm heading back down the I70 to Lake Tahoe, we will see if the new liners hold up!

I just replied to a thread in the general forum but yes, this happened to me too. Both of mine were sucked out at speed and rubbing the tires. And that was with a lift and 35s. Still have the full width steel bumper on too. I don't think the stock liners were designed for speeds above 80 or high winds. I had to pull over several times and cut away the offending area with a knife. These things get really soft when it's hot out. I was on my way to Las Vegas from L.A. so having to pull over in the heat sucked!

I70 in Kansas got my left front liner a couple of weeks ago. Temps were above 100 and had high winds gusting from the right. Heard a sound similar to hitting a rumble strip. When I pulled over I found a large section of the liner almost torn completely off. I talked to the service manager at the dealership today and he's ordering a new liner under warranty.

Have the same issue with factory fender liners. Both sides got ripped up by my factory tires driving down the highway. Jeep needs to recall this part. I've been through 2 sets of factory paper thin fender liners on my JL Diesel. Got tired of dealing with it and spent $550 on a pair of Poison Spyder front fender liners but they have been a fail as well. The drivers side front tore at the 90 degree bend where it mounts to the frame. (Picture insert) Not sure why PS thought they could span a gap between fender and frame with 16 gauge aluminum and have it last. Mine broke after 4 weeks and zero off road trips. The passenger side lower rear does not fit because a fluid bottle is in the way. Had to zip tie it in to get it to stay in place. Please, FCA, recall this poorly engineered fender liner and stop forcing people to the after market.

Update to my post above. I recently installed a new pair of American Adventure Lab fender liners and took them on a wheeling trip. They installed very easily and I've had no issues at all with them. Bonus...they look great and were specifically designed for the diesel so they're is no washer fluid bottle interference. Thanks to the folks on this forum for pointing me in the right direction!

Both front liners got shredded when we drove the 4XE cross country lsat summer. Dealer said their warranty rep kicked it back and said they wont cover physical damage. Anyone get this fixed under warranty have any recommendations on what to do at this point? I shouldn't have to pay for something like this breaking when just driving on a hwy.

It's BS, it depends on the dealer and the rep, I had to come back multiple times to handle this. No advice I guess beyond calling Jeep Cares, who were very helpful and pushed this through.

What???? I didnā€™t know this was an issue. My drivers front did the same exact thing. I wish I would have known about this last week as mine ā€˜20 is at the dealership right now and I could have had this addressed today.

Update: they called about an hour ago to tell me itā€™s ready to pick up. I casually mentioned the problem and Asked if theyā€™d note it so they can be replaced next time Iā€™m in (which will be over 36k miles). They called back 10 minutes ago and said itā€™s been replaced.

Im impressed with A Jeep dealer for the First time.
