Ran into the same problem today.

22 JLUR diesel just a few weeks old -- everything's stock. We're moving cross country and today's leg of the trip was from Frisco TX to Amarillo TX. 25 mph winds most of the day on road (I had to keep the wheel about 5 degrees into the wind the whole time). Pull into the hotel and hear a wheel rubbing and found the front passenger liner blown in and clearly rubbed away by the tire. I think I'll be OK going tomorrow but if it does it again, I'm going to trim out the melted edges with a knife and then get handy with some zip ties. I'll have to deal with a dealer when I get to Washington.

I fell victim to this issue on the way home from an 7 hour road trip. I figured that I would search the forums, and this was one of the first results I clicked on. My passenger side front inner fender liner was shredded in the same general area sometime after I gassed up at the halfway mark. It was definitely a windy ride on that stretch of highway where it was 75-80 mph. Sadly I didn't notice the noise until I was 1 mi. from my house though. I will call my local dealer and see if they have one on hand and will cover it under warranty.

Update 4/10. Been working with corporate on this. They contacted my dealer to get a quote for the repair so they could authorize covering the cost on their end. Been 3 weeks and still waiting. But the nice lady at corporate has called to update me a couple times.

We just got back from wheeling in Joshua Tree and Death Valley and not surprisingly, on the drive home the new fender liner blew out from the high winds and heat…used a zip tie as before to avoid noise and damage. So it happened leaving Moab two years ago and now again-I hope @JeepCares takes care of owners and sends the message to corporate so they correct the problem in production.

Did this happen as you were passing cabazon/the windmill area? I have a feeling this is where a few of mine were lost.

It happened leaving DV on HWY 95N and it was definitely windy. Honestly, I’m just going to go with the zip tie as it’s on there solid and a new one will go out eventually anyway.

Late last week I spoke to a CJD service manager regarding my passenger side inner fender liner issue. I mentioned this forum/thread, and that some have had issues getting it covered under warranty. He requested a pic of the liner damage, the odometer reading, then proceeded to say that it is covered under warranty. The part arrived yesterday.

This happened to my stock 2022 JL with less than 7k miles today when driving from Dallas TX to Roswell NM, when passing the infamous wind farm, was driving around 70-75 mph, I guess it’s because the inner retainers in the lower back failed (small circle on the lower right in the 2nd pic) then allowed the liner to be blown up to contact the wheel, a big chunk was entirely rubbed off and created a big hole, the middle section was also damaged, this is frustrating because I’m on a 2-week road trip vacation from the east coast to the west coast then going back and this is only the 4th day, still have a lot ground to cover, I guess I’ll have to use some zip ties for now and go back to the dealer when the trip finishes, it’s only the driver side right now, let’s hope the passenger side survives, @JeepCares may need your help when I go to my local dealer.

I can't believe they (Jeep) haven't fixed this yet. Wait, yes I can.

Was it hot outside where you were driving? Heat will soften the plastic making them easier to be sucked out at the speeds you were driving. Same thing happened to me when driving through desert heat. I simply pulled out my knife and cut away sections until it couldn't rub any more. That plastic cuts like warm butter.

There is a video somewhere out there that shows these liners being sucked down when driving even with all the fasteners intact.

Yea, it was definitely hot like 100 degrees, I wonder if Mojave (do they have the same design?) has this issue, I mean it’s designed for high speed desert over landing right? Anyways, I’ll be pissed if the dealer says it’s not covered under warranty

I'd say the heat was definitely a factor. They are made from polypropylene which has one of the lowest melting temps of all plastics.

I didn't even bother with warranty. Drove it for months before installing aluminum inners. I don't get any rain and I avoid mud so I wasn't too worried. I kept the upper parts of the plastic fenders that shield the underside of the fenders though. After installing the aluminum fenders, I reinstalled what was left of the original and sliced away what wasn't needed any more.

This happened to me this weekend when I picked up my brand new 2022 JLUXR driving from dealer in TN to Dallas. It started to make noise at 50 miles mark in the trip. When I got home (730 miles), a piece of it is gone. It was very annoying noise. @JeepCares is it under warranty?
