Ideal offset/backspacing JL

Depends how much tire you want to run, up to a 12.5" (315) width you can run offsets in the +18 on a 8.5" or +25 on a 9, should be about 5.5 backspacing I believe.

I only ask because last time I ordered a wheel it rubbed when installed.

It was ProComps they didn’t fit because the BS was at 5 with a 18x9, 0 offset wheel. Still don’t know what this means.

We have method racing mr312 17x9 wheels wrapped in nitto ridge grapplers 35x12.5R/17. The wheels are -12mm (4.5") backspacing on stock height Rubicon and fit perfect. Not to aggressive sticking out and they clear when the wheel is fully clocked left or right. So far no rubbing that I can see but I have not fork lifted it yet to max flex it out from all sides.

Beautiful Jeep. I have the same in white but with Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 35x12.5. Same -12 offset on Mickey sidebiter rims 17x9. Looks great. Could tuck the tires in to 0 or maybe +6 offset but that would only move the tires in .47 to .70 inches.

Yes, that should put them out almost 2.8" and leave you lots of room inside.

If I have the same wheels but with 37 , what do you think? JLUR 2019 with mopar lift, don’t want them to stick out, thanks

a 9" -12 offset running 37s will poke on a Rubicon
Here's a 9" +10 running 35s so that fit would be almost an inch inside from what those Fuel wheels would be

Important to Note that on Sport and Sahara many of the lift kit manufactures require 4.5" of back spacing, I just went through this with Rancho and talked to their techs. For road and lite off-road you can get by with maybe 5" however 5.5" is pushing it. So take that into consideration since you are likely lifting to get your 35's on.

I was wanting to run my 18” stock wheels on my Sahara but after checking with several folks and talking to @TTEChris I decided it was best to run smaller wheels with a larger offset so went with. 2.5” RC budget boost and Method MR312’s with a -12 offset and put on 315 K/O 2’s the tires do stick out a little but not bad, the only downside is when it’s all clean you have to stay clear of any puddles on the streets and it throws some rocks

what size tires and wheels is this setup?

Spent the last couple days reading into wheel dimensions and as far as rubbing goes couldn't that be avoided by buying a wheel with a different offset? I am looking to put a 2.5 Mopar lift on my 19 JLUR with 35s (I know you don't need to lift for 35s). Still not sure what wheels I'm going to go with but I do know I like the wider stance. Want it sticking out 2-3 inches. I've been playing with the offset converters online. Still undecided if I want to stick with a 17 inch wheel or go with a 20. Pros and cons of a bigger wheel? Plan to take it off road here and there.

One thing I noticed...............
Rubicon Axles are 1.5" wider than Sport or Sahara. So it looks like to me 4.5 backspace is about right for a Rubicon and 5.2 or 3/4" more is about right for the Sport and Sahara. My wheels are 5.2 or +12 offset.

You can see Jimbox's Rubicon and my Sport have about the same amount of tire sticking out.

As said, it depends on personal taste and state laws--

My tires are HANKOOK DYNAPRO LT315/75X16 BS 4.5" and I don't have any inspection requirements--

I' m thinking the exact opposite... The wider axles allows more backspace which helps keep scrub/turning radius to a minimum.
Too many variables to calculate, but I believe the optimum set-up on a Rubicon is 5"+ with a 37/38 x 13.5. On the JL 37 is the new 35.

Ryan, you will compromise ride and if you plan to take your jeep off road risk more damage to rims with 20" wheels. With a Jeep/short wheel base I would go 17" wheel.... Always!

Yea you're right. Hmmm Maybe my back space is not what I thought. I didn't order them. Dealer had them on there when on the lot. They show online as 5.2" but maybe they can be ordered with other backspace as well.

Hi, I have a 2018 JLUR with a 2" mopar lift and front 1/2 teraflex spacers. I have 35"s but want to move up to 37's. The wheel I am looking at is a fuel 17x9, -15 offset, 5x5,71.81 hub.... is this good and is my hub 71.8?
