My guess is that they put trackers in each car while in transit to make sure no Jeep "falls" off the truck! Maybe they just forgot to remove it.
Was told that the guy who PDI’s them added it by mistake. Also got locking lug nuts. I think he usually puts a bunch of misc. stuff on & they add that to the price. Pretty much every Jeep on the lot had adders on them when I ordered last year. I didn’t get charged because it was a custom order

Can you show exactly where you found it via pictures?
I pulled one out of my Jeep as well. It was connected in series with the OBDII link and velcroed behind the panel underneath the steering assembly. I bought the Jeep new from the dealer and assumed it was something they installed for repo purposes or to neglect a warranty claim.

My brother bought his Jeep at a different dealer in the same region and it did not have this equipment.

There were no operational differences noted upon removal. To note, I dont believe I have received one of those emails about my tire pressure since then though. Personally, I would not trust my Jeep to the dealership. They have a recall now to DE-tune the motor for some clutch safety issue...

But that doesnt matter much honestly. The fact you are posting on this forum means you have a device that can be tracked. And you being connected to the internet means more important data about "yourself" is being collected.
Well, I don't know how good it is, or what it actually does for me, but there is this...

i have the 6speed and damn the reverse gear is just as tall as the first gear and it causes jolting if you dont go the right speed
I test drove a new JLU with the 6 speed transmission. I found first gear to be rather short, actually, meaning I could pull away from a stop in 2nd gear without really having to slip the clutch. Otherwise, starting out in first gear on the street required a quick shift to 2nd in order to keep the engine speed reasonable.

Depends on the setup. My Jeep started out as a sport with 3.45 gears. It was a dog with just 33” tires. Finally swapped to rubi axles and 4.10’s and 35’a it’s much better but reverse is still terrible

I have the same one but was given a log in to be able to track my jeep on my own. Its from a company called theft patrol. It is 100% a tracker but mine wasn't even activated and was given the pamphlet to activate it if I choose to.

Well if that's a lojack and it's that easy to find, thieves won't have much of a problem..

First guess I would think its needed for your GPS to work also all the other things associated with the emergency call button etc???? I'm clueless though. Just a random guess.

That just looks like the receiver/transmitter for the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. Makes sense to have a SIM card. There’s also an IMEI number on there which almost all phones in the world have. Sort of like a serial number but it’s an international standard that is not manufacturer specific. When I set up a trial with AT&T to try out the hotspot functionality in the Jeep they assigned a me a unique phone number for the data plan. Kind of funny to have a phone number for my Jeep! Haha. I really don’t think it’s anything sinister.

If you have the 8.4c Nav, the sim card is integral to the head unit, and cannot be separately replaced- at least it couldn't be in the unit that was in my 2018 JLR. It failed, which also rendered the GPS location and compass inoperative, and the only solution was a dealer warranty replacement of the entire head unit. I know the GPS has its own antenna, but somehow a functioning SIM card is necessary for it to locate you, or tell you what direction you're headed!

I've had some comments and messages so just to set things straight I am not paranoid, I'm not pissed it's there, and I wasn't loosing any sleep knowing it was there somewhere before I actually found it. This is more like getting the cool toy in the egg machine. Just another Jeep easter egg LOL. I feel accomplished. They can still read my vin number from a satellite so there's that.
From satellite ? Yeah you're not paranoid

I believe this is a tracker installed by the dealer so they can track the vehicle if it were stolen while in their inventory. My 2020 JLU has it and I get a text each day telling where my Jeep is. It has also tracked it in motion, and not only did it tell me where the Jeep was but how fast it was going. I guess I like the knowledge that if it were stolen, I might be able to locate it. On the other hand, today's car professional thieves are so knowledgeable, they would probably have it removed within the first half hour.

Is this device what Uconnect uses to display the car location? or does it use a different location sensing device.
