Breaking in these new gears during the 2nd test drive, I wanted to test the lockers out. They worked normally front and rear, but now they always show locked. Is this due to metallic fragments in the oil?
Anyone have guidance or a link to a thread on these JL lockers? What is the best way to...
I was going off the Dana spec, so this is good to know. Revolution specs .006-.010"
Might just get that into spec and rerun a pattern. I saw this from another post here:
Hate to drive out that pinion race if I dont have to! Got to this point with the write up from @chevymitchell - Thank you...
Hello JL readers, having some trouble chasing patterns. Would this pass, or can anyone provide guidance to improve this pattern?
Backlash is at .003" right now, if i take out .005" I am at .012" which is out of spec according to Dana.
Seems pretty close to the toe:
Then the coast side is...
I have these, Rusty's has surpassed my expectations in strength by far.
Its never easy to keep your pants off a good rock rail, rather have peace of mind!
What brand are they? The vibration is generally due to the wheels being out of balance, if they are new I would take them back in and have them rebalanced.
Let them know you are getting a wheel shimmy at highway speeds.
If its light vibration, sometimes new MTs will need a few miles on them...
Is there a special paint that works best for axles and the frame to protect from corrosion? Lots of rock rash on the frame as well, figure I will touch that up as well as repainting the axle housing.
Also, do you guys usually remove the whole axle for welding access? Seems like the best move...
If you wheel this vehicle, I would check the aluminum knuckle. These can bend and break off, also note the torque for the ball joints as it is really low.
Lower Ball Joint--15lbft/Upper Ball Joint 55Lbft- Lower Ball Joint--15lbft/Upper Ball Joint 55Lbft-
Don't guess!
If it is indeed bent...
Hello, Would you be able to provide a better tread photo? Also, do you have the wheel SKU? Would like to look at the manufacturer specs for this rim.
Thank you,
Wanted to see what you guys thought about this. Looks like the pinion took a good hit on the trail and its bent. I do have some driveline vibration now as well. No leaks. Is this just the yoke?
I have a regear in the forecast, still debating if I want to do that myself. Running a standard...
Me too, season for skid plates! My aluminum skids have been bent so much they just deflect right into the bank 2 exhaust manifold. I hammer them out, which is a lot of work, then then they last about two runs. Going with steel.
Hoping Rusty's Offroad throws out a sale, looks like a whole inch...
I would focus on the lift you really want, and buy a cheap pair of spacers for the time being. Many times they are not obsoletely necessary, but the jeep drives better with a properly spaced wheel.
Rustys Offroad has some good options that do not require any wheel modifications unless you go...
The recommended service interval for the trans oil is 30k for hard service. I had the same issue at times.
I am using royal purple manual trans oil now with no issues. Dropping into second with the clutch still engaged before first will get the gears synced up as well.
