So there’s another problem solved. I don’t have to take back a stolen vehicle that was driven like it was stolen, stripped and left topless in the rain. Of course I have another safeguard against that. Mine is a 6 speed. The thief will never get it backed out of the parking spot ?
Amen to that. Same here. Best theft deterrent ever made!

Funny thought…
Dumb guy comes home after cheating on his wife with another woman. Wife goes, ā€œAnd where have you been?!ā€ Dummy responds with, ā€œOh, just out bowling with the guys.ā€ She then turns to him, ā€œYou know I work for FCA, right?!ā€ ?
Poor dummy had no idea what was hiding under the dash of his new Jeep this whole time… ?
Moral of the story…? Be honest - you never know who is tracking you or how these days!

Or since she works at FCA, the Dumb guy should have taken his wife's Subaru ;)

I was referring to the JLUs HORRIBLE gearing for the reverse gear.

Speaking of tracking, has anyone figured out how to disable the black box data, that insurance and police use, when your are in an accident?

It's not tracking. It's simple event data stored in the SRS module. It's federally mandated. If an accident involving injury happens, the governing agency that did the accident reporting can pull the data to supply it for court. The insurance companies involved can also both request it. The data is usually in the form of a snapshot of the time of accident and a certain amount of time before and after. It shows all the inputs and outputs around the accident event.

You can pull your SRS module after an accident and destroy it, but as an FYI if it was an injury accident, this is evidence tampering and destruction of evidence, and you can be charged. One of the reasons fatality accident vehicles are moved to police impound, investigated, then released to a storage facility.

We have to deal with it on occasion, mainly the police agencies involved are pulling the data due to a fatality accident. Especially where it involved someone committing a criminal act.

Normally, in minor injury accidents it doesn't get looked at. The accident investigator takes statements, does site investigation, and charges are filed or not. What happened can be established from site investigation, witness statements and the statements of the people involved.

Now I know, the guys at Ice Hockey are right, I'm getting slow!
Off topic, but beautiful boxers! We have a white pit/boxer mix and a brindle Great Dane/boxer mix. They are our fifth and six boxers, but our first mix breed boxers.

I get regular emails with such data as oil life, tire pressure, recall info, etc. I also get emails after airing down tires stating my Jeep needs immediate attention. I assume there’s a similar device installed somewhere but I haven’t found it yet.
thats not from this stuff, thats from your uconnect.

Removed mine today, pretty clean and basic install compared to some other I have seen. Mine was just the tracking type not the type where they can kill the starter or ignition.

To answer several at once:

I have the 7ā€ stereo so don’t have GPS.
This was a custom order. I have read dealers install this.
pictures attached. Found straight forward of the door plug behind the panel.

Did you have your Jeep serviced lately? Use a valet lately?

Maybe someone wants track and steal the car later.

Could also be LE but that would be on the outside and 100% require a court order, period.

The general rule is when there is one, there is two!

Get a radio frequency detector and look thru everything! You found the GPS but were is the voice recorder?

Tesla is downloading and sending you an update.

Did you buy your Jeep off the lot or was it special ordered? I would think this something the dealer would install..
Mine was a special order jeep and my dealer made me sign a piece of paper saying I don't want a LoJack tracker device. It is something they offered and I said NO.

I got a text yesterday welcoming me to LoJack. Didn’t realize I had it. Emailed the salesman, he said it was put on by mistake but I wasn’t charged for it. Said I could keep it or bring it in & they would remove it. Think I’m gonna get it removed. Just picked up my custom order last Friday. I have 7ā€ U-Connect so no GPS. Might be tied into the Sirius Guardian system?? Not real sure ??ā€ā™‚
My guess is that they put trackers in each car while in transit to make sure no Jeep "falls" off the truck! Maybe they just forgot to remove it.

this is 100% truth. i have the 6speed and damn the reverse gear is just as tall as the first gear and it causes jolting if you dont go the right speed
