How much do you pay for your Jeep registration?

Right now in Ontario there is no annual fee for licence renewal. When I bought my Jeep in November I paid $32.00 CDN for the licence fee. No yearly renewal from here on until the government changes it. This is a new thing in 2022.
You must renew your plate and provide insurance details when required (1 or 2 years) - no cost
We will see how long this lasts.

For my wife's Jeep here in FL it will be around $50 for one year. Mine, since it has a DV plate, will be $10 for two years.

No inpections of any kind.

But, unfortunately my county adds $100 in fees each year. Just our county only. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be in the far southwest (left ) corner.

As a disabled veteran in FL, I pay $0 for my Jeep. Regular price for my wife’s Jeep is less than $100 - I don’t remember exactly.

Initial registration was a little over $1,400 here in Colorado (no inspections in my county). Not sure of the exact amount because I renewed registration on my 1994 YJ (which is a pittance) at the same time.

This is a somewhat academic discussion. Local governments get their tax revenues from different sources. Just because the vehicle registration is low just means that they are drawing from other tax sources. Unless your community is skimping on public services, the money is coming from somewhere. As always, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

For example, some Texas members posted some attractively low registration rates, but the property tax rates in that state are 43rd (meaning 42 states are less expensive). Everyone's favorite punching bag, California, is 16th. You have to look at the big picture.
