We don’t remove skid armor on the diesel to perform a drain and fill of the transfer case do we?
Just took a peak under there to see what it would take and it appears to not be worth the effort to take off all of the armor that appears to include the gas and cat skids.
NM the troll.
I treat the waste diesel as hazardous material and take it to my local hazardous waste collection center when they’re open on the weekend.
It’s free and they’re thankful to everyone doing their part.
Just remembered to leave a quick update on this…I had improved results by not counting how many times I had to cycle the pump
First I made sure I had a full tank, probably didn’t matter but I just kept cycling the ignition switch to OFF, ACC and RUN with the driver door wide open, leaning out...
I’m halfway through my second tank of R95 and I’m liking the improved feel and response from the Jeep so far. Smoother running and acceleration. Could be a psychosomatic response to the power of suggestion but I’m on the verge of preferring R95 over B20.
I’m finally learning the difference between BioDiesel and Renewable Diesel.
this guy explains some of the labeling confusion. All of these pumps I visited yesterday weren’t labeled R95 or R99. They all had a B20 sticker on the button to turn the pump on after payment.

Thanks, I drive near the beach but have never taken it on the sand or in the water. I’ve only gone mudding once about a year ago and rinsed the underneath pretty well a couple days later. Other than that, I never wash or rinse that area.
I’ll update with my progress
I do live in a coastal area but I never see this kind of surface rust anything this quickly (34 months).
And nothing else underneath looks like this. The surface rust is limited to just these components.
Okay Okay…question asked and answered.
Even though this was supposed to be an ED exclusive question in which the cost of a decent replacement filter is much more expensive than the ones people think I’m trying to avoid paying for, everyone can rest assured that I’m going to replace my filter...
Request the service department rule out wiring harness compromise per this safety bulletin

Here’s a post about a wire harness in the same general area that has to be regularly inspected as well for any heat and/or chaffing damage...
@CarbonSteel
Superior write up. Thanks.
I’m @30k miles so I’m not exactly ready to do my first drain and fill but I’m certainly ready to make sure the fill level is correct as you’ve recommended.
I think I understand exactly how you would recommend doing that and was hoping you could confirm...
