All this auto trans is humor compared to my lighting up 37'' tires with a 5.13 first gear and manual trans... people wonder how I get to 30mph so quick.

October we were down to Gatlinburg and took 1 of those Pink Jeep Tours. I was talking with our guide about how good the fleet does and he stated they routinely get 250,000 miles from the JK 3.6 fleet.

The Jeep for our tour was built up to haul about 10 people and had very oversized tires and 8 bolt axles so probably 1 ton axles. Each Jeep probably averages 4 tours per day hauling people around for about 2 hours and finishes up in a private off-road park on each tour. The Jeep is typically driven like its stolen as well.

Here is a pic of the Jeep we were in. For reference my wife is 5 foot

It would be interesting to know who does their axle conversions.

They're still doing that cylinder deactivation (MDS - Multi-Displacement System)?
I had that on my 2016 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7L, and it was irritating as hell! (I bypassed it every time I got into the truck). Let me tell you first hand, a V8 running on four is NOT smooth.
I had a Camaro SS with cylinder deactivation and it was so smooth I never knew when it was doing it.

That might be the best answer... was the 3.8 insults engine or trans. I've owned the worst 4/5/6 speed trans in dodge/fca history the 45/6/65/66RFE.. however it took 10k to build it bulletproof.
My 08 ran 5.38 gears with the 4spd auto and 37” Pitbulls and had zero transmission issues for the whole 10 years I had it which as stated 321,000 when traded in. I was proactive however back in 2008 and put an auxiliary trans cooler on it as it was noted that they did run hot due to apparent insufficient cooling through the rad. This motor was not babied. It ran as a DD and wheeled in temps from 100f to -40f for the 10years I had it and apparently it’s still on the road with another owner.
Chysler did learn that putting full skids on an off-road vehicle is not a good idea as people don’t clean them out after wheeling and that causes fires. Many JK burn downs were and still are attributed to people installing full skids and never hosing them out. Hence Chrysler pulled off skid pans in 2010 and replaced with a simple crash bar.

D60 Axle swaps are not rocket science. There are plenty of companies out there that provide fully bolt in D60 units that anyone can do it in their own home shop.

Seems the 2.0 Turbo I4 is not as reliable as the Pentastar was.
I tried to break a 2.0 in a rental with 65K on the clock (being a rental, those 65K miles were harder than personal car). Had it for 58 days and beat the ever-living dog snot out of it. I mean I beat it, redlined it often. That turbo is fun on the higher RPMs and it took whatever I threw at it. Honestly really impressed me. I think the question is, how far will the turbo take you over 100K miles?

Just wondering how many 3.6l engine failures.. noises notwithstanding.

I'm under the impression this is the most bulletproof engine fca/stellantis has ever made.
I only know of two people who cooked the 3.6L and both were extremely hard on them. The one made it to 90k and got the tick of death.

I'm about to hit 90k on mine, and it's running well, but I'm convinced I've got rocker arm bearings going and need to get that taken care of.
This was right when my buddies got that tick as well. You should jump on this asap to see if you can save it. He couldn't so it's Hemi time.
