Saw these and thought they were a great idea.. wanting to try them but my thought is if they are even the slightest bit bowed, bent or curved.. it will throw you off. 1/16 of an inch is tiny.. and if you are trying to get toe in 1/16 inch and these tools are not 100% true.. your off.. anyone had experience with these?

The ones from Metalcloak are cheaper. Since the only thing we can set on an alignment is toe, I think they are exactly good enough. Since they are a solid piece of metal bent on a brake, bending one is going to be extremely rare.

After setting toe, caster, aligning Pitman arms and fixing DW for the past 30 years, not sure I need the tool at this stage of the game.

Still a good idea, but not worth to ME!

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of equipment are you using?

Two lengths of 1-1/2” aluminum angle from Lowe’s have worked fine for years for setting toe-in

Yeah I can see how angle iron would be just as effective.. I was just thinking for both angle iron or the tool.. if they were not manufactured 100% dead straight then our measurement would be off.. like if one was 1/16th of an inch bent inward.. then we would measure to 1/16th toe in but would in fact be 1/8th due to the imperfection in the tool.. I'm sure I'm thinking too far into it but just something that crossed my mind.

Tape measure, angle meter, digital level, length of string. Flat surface, hopefully concrete.

Here is the deal: WeBeAlignments and Stomach Pump Room has a $18,999 laseer machine and they can align down to 1/10,000th fo an inch.

Or so they say.

Can the Laser get down to 1/10,000th, BET ON IT if they have the right one, however its all EYE WASH.

You see you suspension system is put together with Rubber bushings, KEY WORD, RUBBER, so accuracy is a mute point as long as you get get it down to a few degrees +/- you are good as the shop.

Few tools, some string and a digital level and bingo you are as close as the $99.95 alignment at the Stomach Pump Room.

I used one similar on mine when I installed the lift and steering. I set it to somewhere between 0-1/32" toe out and had terrible death wobble. Took it to the shop to have the alignment checked on a machine and it was actually at 1/4" toe in. Set it to 1/16" toe in and it drove perfect ever since.

I used 2 inch angle for my home alignment after I replaced my tie rod and drag link.
set toe to 1/16 "in" I always remove the caliper so I can have a true front and rear rotor plane.
The caliper installed keeps the angle from being flat.
