Going to be selling my JLUR 2019 soon. I only want to include one top and will sell the second on the marketplace. Which top is easier to ell on marketplace? Soft or Hard?

I bet selling a black hardtop is easier, but there is way more competition. I know it was harder to find a soft top.

I would think soft. Was easy for me.

I'm sure it varies by geographical area, but in my area at least, hard top is substantially more desirable by Jeep shoppers than the soft top. My local jeep dealership doesn't even order Wranglers with soft tops at all anymore, the salesman said almost everyone that comes in is looking for hard top.

I don't think the price delta for a used jeep with hard or soft top should be more than about $1000, either way, though.

I also think that a lot of people assume it's easy to get a hard top now, add a soft top later, versus the other way around.

I get the impression that most who want a hardtop will buy one with the hardtop. Soft top is an easier add on later. So I would think selling with hardtop and selling softtop separately makes sense.

You trading it in or selling it on your own? If trading in, I’d trade it with hard top on and sell the soft top.

If you’re selling it on your own, I’d sell it with BOTH tops.

When I’ve done exactly that in the past, I won’t say that including both tops in a private sale brought an amazing premium, but I can say I had zero problem moving the vehicles, and fast.

I initially wanted a hard top, and was going to go the brand new route. Ended up seeing the '19 JLUR I bought advertised on one of those autotrader websites and went and looked at it. Decided I liked the deal and ended up saving a bunch of money verses buying a brand new Jeep. To be fair, I would have added a few options that weren't deal breakers had I ordered a brand new Jeep which would have added to the price of going new vs used.

While I still probably will buy a used hard top eventually. I'm happy with the soft top because I can always put the top down quickly by myself when ever I want to. I have helped take the hard top off my buddy's JLU plenty of times, and while not difficult, it is a process that I don't have to worry about myself right now.

Thanks everyone. I almost ordered a new JLUR last year and in the process learned a Jeep purchased with only a soft top did not include the electric and washer fluid connections for future use. It may not be hard to add.

OK.. I'm leaning towards selling soft top separately.

Does the soft top command a higher price? Just curious. I haven’t seen either for sale around here.

How are you selling? Trade or sell it yourself?

If selling it yourself, then selling with the dual top should command a higher price, you could probably price it with either and an extra price for the second top. That way the new owner could preserve the dual top option that came with.

Not that I’m aware of. I always get a hardtop Jeep, then immediately add the soft top as that’s my preferred option. The hard top goes up in storage and it’s rare for me to put it back on before I sell the Jeep. But I like the backup it provides in case of damage to the soft top.

You'll come out ahead if you sell it with the hard top installed and then list/offer the soft top separately. Could easily get $1K+ for a soft top in good/new condition, and you'll have a bigger audience.
