Personally...I don't like aluminum radiators, gimme something with brass but that's not happening. The reviews on the radiator I linked to has a mixed bag of reviews, mostly positive but the negative reviews are for cracks and leaks.

If it would drop the coolant temp 10°f across the board (not counting the thermostat base temp obviously) and they could validate those results, I'd get one. Additionally, it appears they are American made which is a big +10 for me.

Agreed. My concern is under hard wheeling you risk cracking the radiator. I don’t know how well isolated the aftermarket ones are since they maximize space usage. Are they sacrificing isolation space? I’m no engineer so I have no idea if that’s a thing. I know the XJ guys tried every radiator under the sun for better cooling and there were always issues with all aluminum ones cracking when wheeling. Other issues were cores clogging up from metal shavings inside left behind during the manufacturing process, which was also probably because they tried to cram more rows in. The only company I ever found that had a radiator that they specifically said was reinforced for wheeling and had an oversized single core was Champion. Never got the chance to try it out though.

They are local to me. I still would like to hit them up to see if they would build me a radiator for the JL.

i’ll take a (quality) full aluminum radiator over something like the bonded plastic-tanked junk that comes stock in out J**ps any day. plenty of stories about those cracking/leaking already,..

are you talking about the Mishi radiator as the one (you) linked?
i don’t think they’ve begun shipping those yet, so don’t know what reviews you’re looking at.

also, where did you see they’re Amerikun made? i’d like that too, but thought they were globally sourced.

Interesting, you didn't mention the outside temperature when this happened. as far as losing speed, that is strange, I run mine at 70-75 90% of the time, and I usually set the cruise at 75, move the shifter to manual, and let the engine torque maintain the speed, and the speed does not drop below 75 on modest hills, have not tried it in the mountains....

Ya, the one linked is the one I got a link to...Mishi. I wasn't aware they were not shipping yet and the reviews I searched were independent and not associated with the Mishi site.

Overall, good reviews but many cited cracking and leaks. Hey, it's the internet, right...lol

Further research looked like they were manufactured on the east coast but again, ya never know.
These outfits are VERY cagey and will talk all patriotic about America until it comes time to disclose where their product is actually made.

I am not going to buy one today. But if I find out they are made in China, I will never buy one. I'll put up with my issues before I stoop that low.

EDIT...

Where are Mishimoto radiators made? Mishimoto makes their radiators inside their cutting edge R&D facility located in New Castle, Delaware. They produce everything on-site to maintain the highest quality which explains the stellar reviews on Mishimoto radiators and the lifetime warranty on their products.

And these reviews from Amazon...follow the link...

It's also worth noting that my Banks iDash would show the "load" at nearly 100% while the Jeep was slowly dropping from 75 to 55 mph going up a hill.
James, which iDash metric is it that you're referencing? The dealer will likely blame the whole situation on the Banks setup. [or are you planning to remove it before your visit?]

i'm probably the guy that posted that link to the Mishi Wrangler rad. ;)

a fellow member here was informed when he tried to order one recently that they were only in the Pre-Sale stage for our application; i don't know their actual planned delivery date, but you could ask them.

the reviews on the Amazon site you linked only had one negative review, and that from a guy who had the same problem twice.
not that nothing ever fails, but the fact that he claims to have had the same problem twice makes me suspicious that his problem was due to his installation, or something else specific to his situation.

i think our Australian friends are confused. (nobody "manufactures" in an R&D facility.)
Mishimotos website refers to them as "designing" in Delaware; if they actually manufactured in the USA, i'm sure they'd advertise it.
i asked them directly; let's see what they say.

if you're hard-set on a domestically manufactured part, you probably don't have an option yet. Be Cool manufactures here, but i haven't seen that they've got anything for the Wrangler application yet.
Griffin also manufactures in the US, but i can't find a way on their website to see if they have anything for our application. they're also one of the most expensive, and the only Aluminum radiator i've ever seen fail.

so, in summary, so far it still looks like Cold Case and Mishimoto are the only mfrs advertising Aluminum Rads for the Wrangler, and odds are neither of them is made here.

In the end, this is all just internet fodder anyway. Unless one sees a TIG torch in the hands of the welder, we're not sure where the country of origin is. As far as cracking, it's anyone's guess...

It kind'a seems we're not accomplishing anything here.

Yeah. So far I’ve yet to see anyone with the diesel run an aftermarket radiator, so who knows…. I’d be willing to give it a shot, though I won’t lie it does make me a tad bit nervous. I had the radiator blow on my XJ and it overheated for a split second. I immediately shut it down but the damage was done, cracked the head between 3 and 4. Granted the 0331 head was already rolling the dice but still. So part of me reallllllly wants to give this a try but I also am scared it’ll fail on me while rock crawling lol.
