Hey guys, so I’ve heard people say the JL diesel is higher stock than a stock gas version. I have a diesel but don’t have a gas model to compare it to. Anyone know if this is true? Thanks!

The diesel willys uses rubicon springs and shocks in the front, where the gas variant would only have the rubi shocks. Now, I'm not sure if this translates to a higher ride height since the engine weighs so much more.

I'll try and post up some photos when I get home.

I'll also swing by the dealer and measure the fender height on another willys (gas) to see how it compares to mine.

Thanks! I have a Willy’s diesel and was wanting to lift so I could run 35s, but I should be able to run them stock if the diesel willys has the rubicon suspension parts right?

JLU Rubicon diesel sits 1.25" taller than JLU Rubicon gas engine in stock form. I've measured. Check out the diesel lift thread on here for measurement photos.

My JLURD has 35x12.5 with no rubbing at full flex or lock. My understanding is that, and it may be offset specific, almost all gasser JLUR’s will rub a bit with 35x12.5 tires, which means it must sit a bit higher. I’ve read 1-1.5” as others above have stated.

How big are your 35's? Some run pretty small.

I measured 39" from ground to outer edge of black Rubicon fender lip at both front and rear with stock wheels/tires/suspension on my 2021 JLURD. Does anyone have or have seen measurements for a 3.6 or 2.0 Rubicon?

As I'm still deciding what to order, I test drove a Rubicon diesel and 2.0 back to back... The diesel felt higher climbing in and we measured them afterward and the diesel sits about 1.5 inch higher (2.0 was a soft top)

Any updates on this? Am very curious if a JTRD is taller than a JTR gasser. Could make it 2-3” taller than a base gasser JT.

Yes the JLURD is taller by about 1.5 inches.

My wife has a stock JLUR 3.6 on 315s and it was about 1.5 inches shorter to the bottom of fender and frame rail than my (at the time) stock JLURD on the stock 33s

I just measured a 21 Rubicon Ecodiesel and compared it to my 21 Rubicon manual V6. Both have the tow package. The diesel has approx. 7,500 miles on it and steel bumpers. Mine has approx. 4,500 miles and the plastic bumpers. The diesel sat approx. 1/2 inch higher at the front fender and approx. 3/4 inch higher at the rear fender when compared to mine (same level ground). I have read that the Ecodiesel Rubicon sits 1.25-1.5 higher than a regular Rubicon. Would the steel bumpers on the diesel cause that much of a difference?

Did it have any other pieces of armor (on/under) or a tire carrier on it?
